Without Althea, 2nd set could be any GD show from Spring 1990 until the last tour.

It's like opening an old cookbook and tasting all the old flavors of the good old days.

Yeah, I saw like a hundred Hurts me too in the 90's....

^ :-)

>>>  Yeah, I saw like a hundred Hurts me too in the 90's....

yeah, he said 2nd set...

i saw comment after comment on fb about what a great set list this was.   idk, i just don't see it.

but i had some kid tell me that a particular furthur show was 'show of the tour' specifically because they broke out me & my uncle or some other generic cowboy song, so i guess that is the general mentality of the typical fan of the 3rd wave (or 4th wave?) post-Jerry gd scene.

DeadCorp opener slammed as forgettable snooze fest by Jim the Critic.

https://www.mercurynews.com/2019/06/01/review-dead-company-kick-off-summ...

^^ yeah, sounds like Harrington feels the same way I do about Bob Weir tempos.

Should a head's opinion that gets published in a "newspaper" carry any more weight or credence than from those of us here in the "peanut gallery"?

I read the review and his last line is that it was forgettable. Having only seen one dead and co shows, I feel forgettable is a good description. Did Mayer have a Kardashian girlfriend there? Man I know I'm getting old, but I just don't get. It's not just Bobby, me thinks the drummers like it slow. Long live phil, he rocks out still.

That show was A+. It rocked the hell out of the old garbage dump. Bob was fucking great. Mayer is fucking outstanding, best player they have had in that slot - period. Not a Jerry wannabe, but a guy who studied Jimmy Reed to the man himself and created his own game. Long live the Grateful Dead!

Another Grateful Dead show in the books! Glad you had fun Woz.

I always do!!!!! Love to post the glowing reviews here to kick the curmudgeons in the ass!

Bobby’s mojo was back, I though he sounded great and the band was solid. Mayer is a very strong guitarist and he gets bonus points for not dressing like a doosh. he must have a new woman in his life dressing him now. met Bobby’s wife on Shakedown street, she was buying some clothes for her daughters and Bobby. They were spending plenty - it was nice to see them supporting the heads and giving back to the community in this way. The vendors were grateful. Fun show, beautiful evening to enjoy some of our favorite tunes. it was a grand party. I’m glad  the curmudgeons don’t go to the show.

I recall Woz writing some stellar Deadbase reviews that I was in general agreement with. With all of his DC fluffing I now need to double-check the constitution and veracity of those reviews.

LOL! Bro, I play a badly needed role here. A light in the proverbial darkness of the zone! I did have fun last night and that is the goal!

is this that new band fronted by monet weir's dad?

^lol.  Monet is so beautiful.

I’m w woz.  We’re heading to the Hollywood bowl shows and I know it will be fun.  Fun to head out of twn, escape the prolonged cool and wet spring here in the Rockies, get some beach time in and fun to listen to some music we all love... under a starry nite outside!  Never been to the HB before.

It’s not the Dead but it’s all good- in fact, took my 88 yo mom out for her birthday last week and the 30- something acoustic guitar dude playing background music in the restaurant opened up w Ripple.  Brought a smile to everyone at our table.  I went up during a small break, stuffed a couple bills in his tip jar and thanked him for that opener.  He then went on to play Ship of fools, FOD, brokedown and wheel as I recall.  It wasn’t the dead, it wasn’t jerry....but it was good times.

"2nd set could be any GD show from Spring 1990 until the last tour"

Try spring 1978.

Because of work obligations I didn't get to the show last night until intermission, but I thought the playing in the 2nd set was solid, especially considering it was their first show in a long time, and any dead head worth their salt knows how first shows could go even back in the best of times.

As for Woz, I've seen negative reviews from him. I don't think he's a fluffer, I think he just says it like he experiences it in the moment, without a scorecard of predetermined expectations of what it's SUPPOSED to be.

Good for him.

It looks like I'm going again tonight, now I just have to decide if I show up early or at set break again. There's something to be said for missing all the insane traffic hassles, huge lines and warmup first sets and just cruise right in at intermission, still getting an almost two hour show.

I must be getting old.

BTW, tonight's show is effectively sold out, so if you're going you should either get there early or late.

Nothing wrong with a little ass glitter and fairy dust. Have fun...

 >>>>>Long live the Grateful Dead!

Glad folks had fun, but...

...not Grateful without Jerry,

not Dead without Phil.

Bobby's new guitar looks like it can do lots of cool stuff.

Really appreciate the update folks.

I have located my inflatable camping pillow so I think I am set for this coming Friday.

It really is great that folks are having a ball at these shows, listening to our favorite songs being played live and carrying on the GD-esque vibe.

Good for y'all having a good time.

I've tried plenty of times but I cannot listen to Mayer sing Jerry tunes. I makes me cringe so hard. It is so awful. Fortunately, the guy can obviously rip on guitar and now & then gets in to a really killer groove with this band and lays it down!

All in all, If the scene and vibe are truly positive, then it's all good!

<<<<<It looks like I'm going again tonight, now I just have to decide if I show up early or at set break again.>>>>>

The consistently best part of every D&C show I've seen has been the 20 minutes either side of  drumz. If I could just "pop in" it would be there.

I dig the band, but clearly sometimes the streams can be pretty boring. Night 2 at Shoreline was an exception. Phenomenal show, with a monster Dew to wrap things up. The Uncle John's Band encore had a cool Supplication jam embedded in it. Really good show and I'll give this one another listen, which I never do with Dead-related shows these days.

Now, as to last nights show? It was beyond sublime. It was so good I am speechless.

Who was Mayer wearing?

Phans want to know!

He wore clothes.

He played with fire.

A three minute Other One pretty much defines this band.

The Republican hammer head missed the 16 minutes of other one pre drums.....

^^^ does it seem he will sometimes omit facts that don't support his position?

I was about to say that Thom is wrong, yet again, but then I realized that his comment is actually pretty spot-on.

That re-entry back into Other One, with the THUNDEROUS bass line crescendo that traditionally begins the song (and damn Oteil Burbridge is a such good player, which is often overlooked in reviews or critiques of this band) really does define "this band", or more to the point, this music. It was an excellent rockin' segue back into the set after a looong improvisational stretch.

Last night was a DAMN good show, and I'm really glad I went.

Yes it was a keeper for sure!

Yes, I did misread the set list.  My apologies.

But this band is still a joke. You might as well be listening to Twisted Sister.

Wrong again Tom.  Twisted Sister has way more energy........

^Was thinking the same

Let us know when Twisted Sister starts playing Grateful Dead songs, I will go check them out.

They're not as boring as Larry and Theresa.

Upon reflection I have decided that Twisted Sister was a bit too harsh.

So let's just asy that yu might as well be seeing the Eagles.  It's a much more apt comparison.

Yet again.

Slacker ==. Idiot

I hate to say it; well no I don’t - but you have to go to the show to have a solid  opinion in my opinion

The larry Theresa  show at terrapin last month was sublime

Keep on trolling was not a song/ lyric  the dead played

just listened to a couple clips in that article.

i have no interest in seeing this band.

love ya bobby but all done.

not sure why one would go to this when phil is doing something smaller scale with better members...

I would rather see any Dead & Co setlist over any L&T setlist.

Go Woz.

Lotta' swingin' like Kingman going on around here.

Same as it ever was.

Seeing a set list is not hearing a set list

At least to me going going gone

That full show YouTube is sweet, thanks.

Listened to most of 6/1 so far.

Band sounds great, Bobby's vocals are strong, people having a great time...

LLTGD!
