David Bromberg Big Band - 4/7/18

Forums:

My brother & I caught Bromberg last night at William Patterson University in Wayne, NJ w/ the Big Band. Great time & some impressive playing. One cool part was when they unplugged & stepped to the front of the stage for a nice version of the Shirelles Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow. They followed that up with a sweet a-capella version of a song called Standing In the Need of a Prayer. Some impressive vocal work. Great version of an apparently rare Jugband Song, which he said he hadn't done in at least 15 years.

Those are great photographs, I appreciate it.

David looks well rested.

Sorry I missed it. There are few things better than the Bromberg Big Band, if any!

Wow, Peter Ecklund! The only guy who's been in the David Bromberg Big Band longer than David himself!  wink

^I love when he introduces him that way. I’ve also heard him say he’ll probably retire before Peter Ecklund does.

I'm surprised to see Peter Ecklund up there.  He was in the band for the birthday show last year and seemed very out of it at times, in a variety of ways.

Hope it was just an off night.

Seems like a good show to be at, thanks for the video!

Thanks. Great to see. I used to see DB&TBB at The Bottom Line in NYC in the late 70s. Cool to hear that the music lives .

That young fiddle player is a beast.

Good times for sure.

Bluest, I hadn't heard anything about Peter Ecklund's health & he seemed to be ok (I certainly hope so, he's a great musician).

The first time I saw Bromberg was with the Big Band at the Bottom line.It was also the first show I saw after Jerry died & it really lifted my spirits. The band was so big, they had some of the horns on the stairs going up to the stage.

Tim, he is great. Fits in really well with the band. The last time I saw Bromberg, the 2 of them were going back & forth on the fiddle & it was amazing, Bromberg stuck to guitars this show, which was a first for me.

Great pics, one of my fav performers :)  You should ck out his Big Noise Festi on the water iny helm and  Delaware :)  It's worth the ride, a nice day of music ...

lol....my keyboard sucks :(

2 of my friends are heading up to Delaware for the Big Noise Festival. I was going to go & then I realized it's the same weekend I'm seeing Adrian Belew in NYC. It's a shame really, because that's an impressive lineup.
