Damn fine two dollar bong

Forums:

Come across some lab glassware.  Paid a dollar for the rubber stopper, $.39 for the hose. Had the stem and bowl. Bored the carb hole with a diamond Dremell bit.

Damn fine little bong. KILLER!

It's that organic metal?

I'd be more worried about the plastic tubing.

Why?

Unless it's food-grade.

Slacker is new to stoners ?

izz'es.

Have you guys seen that movie?

That bong looks like it could be bad for your long-term health, Jaz.

Maybe just roll a joint and focus your engineering prowess elsewhere. I say that with love.

Why thank you very much for the concern. A bong is the first thing I thought of when I aquired the assorted labware. I took about ten minutes to make and a minute to crush the ice.

What are your thoughts on homemade Bamboo bongs, Mark.

You know Jaz, I'm honestly more of a bubbler guy.

I will say that I constructed a very similar contraption to the one in your pictures using a special edition Skippy peanut butter jar shaped like a chipmunk back in the day. That thing kicked like a mule.

I probably should've checked out that movie after you threw that pic at me and Brian, but no, I haven't seen it, Slax.

Are we missing out? It looks ridiculous. I'm reading it as a put-down.

Gravy is a good example of somebody who very likely did some permanent damage smoking weed off of plastic and metal.

Let his mistakes serve as caution to us all.

I always thought these(his) images were some sort of personal reminiscences of individual youth,Gravytrain.

Some of mine are. Making that bong reminded me of around 1971/72ish discoverys.

That is ,I guess, why I started the thread.

How do you feel about titanium nails?

I think you're doing good work here, Jaz. Your pics definitely took me back to my early bong engineering triumphs.

As a friend, I just don't want you inadvertently getting a blast of a carcinogen with your bong load.

I have seven screws, two rods and two cages implanted on my spine made of titanium. They have made my life easier.

My thoughts on titanium nails would be along the same lines as metric angles.

Your thoughts?

Thank you ,Mark.

as a kid, someone's mom had a coffee pot bong similar to that.

> Making that bong reminded me of around 1971/72ish discoverys.

The first time I smoked through water was about that time. My buddy had made a bong out of a tennis ball can with a stem made out of the waxed cardboard tube sometimes found on the bottom of a wire coat hanger and a piece of aluminum foil for a screen. The weed, of course, needed its seeds and stems removed before we smoked it.

Pull stem or carb?

This is the lab glass I acquired. This is a third of what was left after I gave a friend of mine who owns two of those Halloween stores. Lot's o' all Pyrex. He is going to set up Mad Scientist displays next year. He looks the part.

Pondering on what to do with the glass.

Glass weld a Glass Tin Man together might look cool.

The large syringes make a good squirt gun or turkey baster.

Hoover, I want to say carb because the stem was secured to the can with some duct tape, as I recall, but I'm not convinced we were that sophisticated.

different kind of nails, Jaz

Damned if I am not out of touch on fancy smokin.

I find no fault with that budget Hookah, other than the metal bowl/stem device.  Of course you know for certain none of that stuff ever had any funky toxic reagents in it.

You could easily locate a replacement stem in borosilicate glass for just a few bucks.  (Boro = Pyrex / Kimax etc.)

The machined brass or aluminium combustion bits are really outdated, as it can't be too healthy to heat that stuff and potentially inhale traces of metals and their oxides.  Of course someone will explain that the Titanium "nails" are safe due to sooper-high combustion temps or such.

Brings back fond memories of jr high, along with corncob pipes, bamboo bongs, those screw together metal pipes that resin-ated the stash in the stem, and eventually the US Bongs and round glassToker I and II. And album covers and the big rolling paper in Cheech and Chong record.

And didn't you read in that other thread that there is only a 33.3% chance that that shit will fuck you up, cancer-wise?  Knock out the hereditary factor, and you're probably ok to go...if you like those odds.

Good 'ol bamboo bongs.

We used to line the inside with wax then when dirty melt the wax with hot water, pour it out and put fresh wax in.

In 7th & 8th grade I would make pipes/bowls out of Apples & Pears that were in my brown lunch bag.

I was reminded about this at my High School reunion a few years back.

Some of that glass looks none too clean. Wonder what's on/in it?

Nobody over the age of 24 should own a bong. Let's be honest.

Most bongs I know of are used by old people, like myself.

The kidz are fooling around with plutonium thumbtacks or some such things.

Btw, everyone should be using hot water in their bong instead of ice. Hot air holds more moisture, so the hit will be moister, and less of the smoke will cling to the inside of the bong.

Try it!

".... with plutonium thumbtacks or some such things.... "

Don't forget the Plasma Field generator and Tesla coil.

The Shadder & Wacks must be transmogrified in a precise hyperdimensional region.

Surf, do you prefer hot or cold sake?

lyrics that almost were:

Don't bogart that Erlenmeyer flask my friend, pass it over to me...smiley

I heart the pots

Not much into sake, but if I was it would be cold. I don't like to drink hot liquids except chowder or bisque.

I just prefer smoking through them.

Well, just water - not soup.

You drink chowder?

Martini glass or mug?

Just a bowl.

All the Kidz these days are filling the Hookah with the New England Clam Chowder.

> two dollar bong

> Paid a dollar for the rubber stopper, $.39 for the hose

What did you spend the other $0.61 on?

>>>>>All the Kidz these days are filling the Hookah with the New England Clam Chowder

They should strain their change..

"...What did you spend the other $0.61 on?.."

Duuhhh, Dremel Diamond Bits aren't cheap.

Nor the Whacks & Chadder.

Snow Bongs > Hot Water Bongs > Cold Water Bongs

Two dollar bone?  Now that's some bang for your  buck.

Oh, nevermind...
