Cream Cheese Accident

The Havarti Happening opened.

There's a String Cheese Incident tribute band out there making a living??? The public continues to amaze me..

I was thinking the same thing lol

I wouldn't make that assumption based on one video.

My initial thought was it was a one-off/goof.

After {X} got stoned and came up with the name, we had to.

The Blue Cheese Blunder

The Camembert Coincidence

They finished the set with a sweet Gouda Lovin'.

cool name -- good attitude--- but they are not barefoot ....>WTF ?

Oh yeah?!? ... well my tribute band is better than your tribute band!

I'm not sure if they're making a living, but it looks like they're having fun.

I think they're actually pretty good on most tunes, with the exception of the drummer's vocals being enough to slightly "tarnish" the instrumental effort on Black Clouds and Desert Dawn.

To be clear, my comment about making a living in no way reflects upon the band members and their talents. They seem to be quite competent at their craft and do seem to be having a good time. My comment was strictly remarking about my wonderment that their are enough String Cheese Incident fans out there to support a tribute band. As pointed out above, I did not take into account that this could have been a lark and one time only performance done for the yucks. My bad.

As to the posting of "Oh yeah?!? ... well my tribute band is better than your tribute band!" on any number of levels that may be true, although Tramps Like Us is not MY tribute band in any definition of the word, "MY." Honestly, I avoid Springsteen tribute bands almost as much a I've tried to avoid Covid-19. That reaction is probably rooting in me seeing the real thing so many times and how the best tribute cover pales in comparison. Still, I understand how bands like Tramps Like Us and The B-Street Band do very well for themselves as tribute bands. The Springsteen fan base is much larger than that of String Cheese Incident and there are many in that fan base who live, breath and celebrate Springsteen's songs at all times. The same thing goes for another band that has multiple tribute bands out there, the Grateful Dead.

The success of a tribute band and it's chance of making a living out of it, primarily comes down to the size of the original band's fan base. A band/performer with 300 million fans can support mutltiple tribute bands and each can make a living out of it. With established tribute bands like the above Tramps Like Us, they can make a very good living. Before covid mostly shut down touring and performances to crowds, Tramps Like Us did over 250 gigs a year. That is more than most performers and their paychecks reflect that very well. Those guys don't have a primary day job.

Buddy of mine pulls in about $70,000  a year playing covers.

That doesn't surprise me at all. It may not be the most glamorous or artistically satisfying work but it sure can pay a lot of bills. I know a bass player who is a part of one of the highest tour grossing tour acts for over 15 years makes just over that with no benefits. I wonder if the artist he works for at least covered his pay during the pandemic. I suspect not.

The age of the anti christ has just only begun ...

tribute acts are slowly supplanting the original artists. It started with original bands and replacement members, then it was secondary bands "featuring an original member" now has moved into "once played with " and full on tribute. Just wait til Gene and Paul  have replacements for themselves in Kiss... I also have this weird vision that Pete Best is the last living member of the Beatles and takes to the road for another go propped up in front of what's left of the beatlemania crowd alongside the next generation of fans. All due respect to Pete of course who I've met( and his brother Roag)and isn't nearly as bad as many would have you believe

My buddy loves it, and it's more glamorous than working as a math professor, his former day job.

A white fake Kang? Eeeck.

I was 100% kidding around.  Clearly, sarcasm can get lost in the shuffle on the internet.  I sometimes lose sight of this!

I really didn't do much in the way of due diligence re: who's the actual "DSO" of Springsteen ... TLU was just the first that came up when I googled something.

But more to your point:  I was actually kind of amazed to see a cheese cover band, since I've never seen one before - ever!   Likewise, I can count on one hand how many times I've seen bands cover individual SCI songs ,,. with the exception of a local band that plays a few cheese covers, although they mostly play originals. However, they've been cheese fans for a long time and some have ties going back in Telluride with actual band members:

^ here they are ...  and this was my third to last show since pandemic ...then saw Jerry Joseph & Jojo Herman in December, then my last was sometimes in Jan or Feb that I have been dying to get in touch with someone to ask her the name of the band.

The Brie Brouhaha

I've played Barstool in front of an audience.  Twice, I think.

But I doubt I could pick up the guitar right now and get that intro right the first time.

Physical Graffiti was an awesome Zep cover band but they all had day jobs.
