That Thunder & Lightning
That Thunder & Lightning lineup looks good.
I have never been a fan of Jay Lane's, seeing him mostly with Ratdog over the years, but I must say that after seeing him a few times recently with Phil & others I have been much more impressed with his efforts, and of course I was able to see that he actually did have some impressive chops when I saw him with Primus a few years ago (although I still thought that Primus was much better with either Tim Alexander or Brain).
Bob must have been "holding him back".
And I generally never am able to make the free park shows, but since I'm off work this week I might just make a day trip to the clubhouse on Thursday.
It continues to be a haul for me to get up there, but as long as Phil is standing on stages and playing well I will continue to make every effort I can to see him.
LONG LIVE PHIL LESH!!!

Jay was probably getting a bit complacent being in Ratdog, I think those guys were getting Bob Marley high all the time too. I inadvertently sat behind him for a while at Jerry Day in maybe 2005-06 (the one that Martin Fierro played) and Jay and his buddy were smoking joints non-stop. Once that Bobby fun train stopped he had to work harder

A bunch of boring ass shows.
A bunch of boring ass shows. The only ones that interest me aren't worth driving 4 hours for.

ohhh Tadd Snider should be fun. Everytime I see Thunder & Lightning I think of Johnny Cips...rest in peace ...they should at least put Gravinitis in the band for taking over the name...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fdFyRRzWhfw

Is there a free park show this Thursday???
I'd better check the website.
Going to the Tuesday "Thunder and Lightning" gig is a no-brainer for me. Similar lineup (with Scott Law) played a fantastic gig. And Neal is no slouch, either.

Oh, the Thursday show is Stu Allen and Friends. One of my favorite (funky) lineups: Stu Allen, Jordan Feinstein (keys), Murph Murphy (bass), and Ezra Lipp (drums).
^Definitely worth the price of admission!
(And probably not GD material, which makes it a little more interesting, IMHO)

Honestly, Turtle, I haven't heard Friend of the Devil in a long time. Now, Shakedown Street on the other hand...
"quasi quality friends" = less money than "quality friends"
$50 is a lot, so I wouldn't begrudge anyone for not going.
Still, the last such show I attended fooled me into thinking that I enjoyed a special night out. And that sort of thing works for me at this stage of my life.
Enjoy life, my friends.
