Closet Queen

Forums:

Found a 40 year old closet queen in Georgia. Brought her out to Colorado and I'm very happy.

Catchy, but it's no Honky-Tonk Women.

She's been kind of high maintenance so far but she can sing beautifully.

Oh, and smooth legs.... .

That's a beauty.

Beautiful instrument.  It looks like individual tiles on the neck. Can you post an overhead image.

Thx.

The wood is birds eye maple and has nice figuring but I suspect that the diamonds are a strip of some kind. One very nice detail is the lacquer finish. Nowadays builders use mica and if you want lacquered wood there is a substantial up charge. It needed some love and attention but I figured out how to set it up. More mechanicing than luthiering. It's like a cross between a guitar and a sewing machine.

envious!  singing some smooth twang

Sweet!   Never looked at one up close.  10 strings?

10 strings, not tuned at all like a guitar. The 3rd string is the highest pitch just to keep things interesting. Basically it is set up to produce 4 inversions of the same major chord in each position. The pedals and knee levers change notes so I can play maj, min, seventh chords without moving the bar. Feet and knees do a lot of the work. It's like learning a new language.

Sweet. Congratulations. So appropriate for "Stringtwang".

That's gorgeous!
