I always thought girls-on-the-shoulders was a nice touch for the pit. Not sure why that move went out of vogue.

And accessorized with a briefcase somewhere nearby, not doubt.

But seriouslee, does anyone know what the occasion was?

It was a fantastic show. Did spac-roch-Maine that summer

Crazy. In June but I am pretty sure Jerry wore that at Hershey 85.

Really good show the Genesee was flowing like a river they were selling cases of beer.

I imagine with Phil wearing a sweatshirt that the chilly winds were blowing.

If I remember correctly it had rained and they covered the stage with plastic sheets.  It started getting cold. Everybody's mood sank thinking it would be canceled or something.  When the sun broke out the stage crew started tearing off the plastic. The crowd was shouting and hooting like it was a striptease show.  "Tear it off!!"
The band came out and busted into Box of Rain.   It was a great show. I was a very happy 16 year old taking trains and hitchhiking and camping along the way to a few shows.

That's the stage we like to call "Professor Barney".

Two long & well played sets, I did Summer '88 sober, but appreciated the sugar shot from the fried dough, great atmosphere for a show in a minor league ballpark

A local was letting people park on his front lawn for a few dollars, got out easily & drove straight to the Daze Inn in Portland. Tough ride, but missed the huge traffic jam, big Dead concert plus it was July 4th weekend.

Of course it was shitty cold weather, it was Rochester! Someone I knew in High School took this photo. I'd give him credit but can't remember his name...

This was a hometown show for me, slept in my own bed that night then hit the road for Maine in the AM. (Did Pittsburgh, SPAC, Roch. and Maine).

Last time they played Rochester, only Green Onions, 15 shows in Rochester from '70-'88, most of them

very strong. Weird for a small town in the middle of nowhere....

Plenty of Genny.

I never missed a Rochester (or Buffalo) show from '73-'88, and yes, certain towns seemed to have some bizarre consistency to them. Everything in "Rockchester" was always a solid performance and a ton of fun, Including Jerry and Bob separately at The Auditorium Theater. Sept. '77 comes to mind as a night "They Love Each Other" was burned into my brain. The now defunct Holleder Stadium was Brent's first WNY appearance.

Silver Stadium certainly sucked as a venue, and I don't recall it being that cold- maybe Jerry borrowed that sport coat at the last minute. ;-)

PS That now famous "Green Onions" seemed more like noodling at the time than really crankin' the song... that's me.
