Pretty sweet.  A bunch of Dead Kennedys too.

Saw those guys at a hockey rink in Denver in 89 or 90.  The band stopped the show to berate some Nazi punks standing in the middle of the mosh pit and beating people as they moshed on by.

I saw Keith Morris do a stage dive at the 9:30 club in the middle of a set, when he had a full leg cast from a skateboarding accident. Fuckin awesome.

With the stuff going on in Washington, it is time for some real rebellious music to rise up for our youth, even if the lyrics are sometimes silly, they are rooted in rebellion. Here is one I have been listening to because of this thread:

Live Fast Die Young by Circle Jerks:

I don't wanna live
To be thirty-four
I don't wanna die
In a nuclear war

Go on out
Get some more
Go on out
To the bar, the market or the liquor store

I don't wanna live
To be fourthy-three
I don't like
What I see going on around me

Go on out
Get some more
Go on out
Get fucked up and pass out on the floor
Go on out
Get some more
Go on out
To your favorite liquor store
Go on out
Don't worry about it any more
Go on out
Get fucked up
I don't know what for

I don't wanna live
To be fifty-seven
I'm living in hell
Is there a heaven?

Live fast, die young!
Live fast, die young!
Live fast, die young!
Live fast, die young!

I was so wasted
I was so wasted
I was wasted
I was a hippie
I was a burnout
I was a dropout
You know I was out of my head
I was a surfer
I had a skateboard
I was so heavy man
I lived on the strand

I was so wasted,
I was wasted

I was so fucked up
I was so screwed up
I was so jacked up
I couldn't get any higher than that
I was so pilled up
I was so nebbed out
I was so jacked up
I was out of my head

I was so wasted
I was so wasted

I WAS SO FUCKED UP!

I WAS OUT OF MY HEAD!

This is what I LOVE about this site ( I am new to VZN and lurked PZ for about 5 yrs for pass codes to Phil shows and to observe interesting culture - a bit more chill here, less vitriolic... hope it stays that way. luv the diversified group; opinionated; interesting; eclectic; analytical; critical).

DH/Hardcore here too

85 + GD & JGB shows lead me to NYU New Afternoon Show/ NYC No Wave (eg: Konk; ESG; James Chance) and to early Dub/ Reggae culture. then stumbled into Bad Brains show in early 80s ['twas only one in Ed Donahue shirt in sea of leather jackets, scarefuckinre!] Got hooked and gave up GD land - too many friends w needles dropping like flies; general ennui.

anyone interested in bands mentioned in threads above might also like:

Adolescents/ DI; Il Repute; Dr. Know; Aggression; Reagan Youth; SNFU; Toxic Reasons; Social Unrest; Scream (DC); 7 Seconds; Descendants (not too pc); JFA; APPLE; Damage; Flipper; Fang; 76% Uncertain; CIA; Vatican Commandos; Lost Gen; Seizure; Adrenaline OD; Dagnasty; Fugazi; dickhead and non dickhead NYCHC bands - research if interested.

too bad hardcore died w DM dickheads - for a second HC was like 60s w really forward and socially conscious thinking but w fucking attitude! but then became metalized; straight-edged (3rd gen); sideofmoshpit punched; jockopimpliefacedteenagerbullied; and generally stymied by other assorted idiots, and subverted by populist culture. guess all cultural dies this way too..

punk still lives in CT tho!

keepon..

First time I've ever seen NYHC referred to as NYCHC. Does Uncle Vinnie know about this? :-)

Fugazi!

I have enjoyed everything Keith Morris has done over the years. OFF! Is my favorite band he has been in for some reason. I just like it. His book is a decent read also if you like that sort of stuff.  "Damaged, A Punk Rock Survivor".

i recorded an OFF! Show a couple years ago. Keith told me "just don't put on it on one of file sharing sites" he didn't say anything about dropbox. If anybody is interested let me know and i can provide a link.

((Uncle Vinnie))

Jim, I'd be interested in such a thing.  Thank you.

Do what ya feel but Dropbox is most definitely a file sharing site.  It's pretty much it's only function.

DRI, Cromags, GBH, JFA, Agent Orange, Angry Somoans, Gang Green and one of my all time favorites....Goverment Issue.

Miami had a very significant Hardcore scene for many  years. Slamming and stage diving deadhead in tye dies and long hair.

Good Times at Flynn's and Cameo

love the circle jerks. cool deal man.

Played several shows with OFF! they are incredible, and so is Keith in Flag, which is a whole bunch of Black Flag alumni doing that thing.
