cicada-palooza

Forums:

It's a slow news day.... but....just read:

"In 2021, Marylanders will have a front-row seat to something that may seem apocalyptic. The so-called “cicada-palooza” is going to happen the last two weeks of May and into early June.

Michael Raupp, the Professor Emeritus of Entomology at the University of Maryland says the state is at the epicenter of the cicada emergence. That means countless insects will emerge starting in early May. In some areas, 1.5 million cicadas could emerge from the ground per acre as part of a 17-year cycle."

Holy crap - that's a lot of bugs. Probably good Delfest will most likely be canceled this Memorial Day weekend.

Should make for some interesting AB's at Camden Yards.

Sounds like a good source of protein per acre.

I remember this being bigger news in MD than elsewhere last time, too.
