Yeah Chris, we all know you are weird and proud of it!@
But that isn’t a good reason to be a dick and rubbing it in his brothers face with this band!
Sorry, Im not liking Chris these days.
His “Im an artists, doing what I want” schtick is not a good excuse, for whats happening here.
Chris Robinson's "Bitter-hood"!!
Albeit, I will still probably go see this band, DOH!!!

Lol, I'm a sucker for having clicked a RS link without Matt Taibbi in the by-line but

>> The group – which features Black Crowes alumni Adam MacDougall (keyboard), Andy Hess (bass) and Audley Freed (guitar), along with Marcus King (guitar) and Tony Leone (drums)<<

is that really the band? Brutal.

I've been to a couple CRB shows. Enjoyable, but laughable in a sense that most every Chris penned tune has at least one stolen hook/turnaround/chord change from a GD song. I applaud Chris for thinking that he's a songwriter but his livelihood relied on his brother's ability to write. On the flip side Rich would be working at Guitar Center in GA if Chris didn't have a killer voice.

Chris Robinson has always been a douchebag.  Same as it ever was.

> is that really the band?

well take a look at the audience

Magpie Salute, Rich's band, are playing some crows songs not really trying to include them in their sets. Been some very good sbd recordings out on dime

im a fan of the black crowes and I don’t really care if the brothers don’t get along as I don’t get along with all of my family and I get it.

Chris appears to have released a lot of new material lately, as much as if not more than Rich, so I’m not sure if the “Chris relies on Rich” theory regarding writing is a fact.

AND, I’d love to see some Chris Robinson songs listed with the GD song that it was stolen from, since there are apparently so many of them. That would be a fun read. Looking forward to it.

I cant understand anyone pining away for a black crowes reunion.

to be honest they were sloppy & either unrehearsed or fucked up everytime I saw them live.

I always wanted to enjoy seeing them live, and then everytime it sucked.

just sayin’

He's just wah about Magpie Salute.  Apparently he was all over sirius criticizing Rich for starting a "Black Crowes cover band".  Pretty transparent one-upmanship from Mr. Mellow Cali Cool Cat.  I like his music but he is probably an ass as a brother.

I'll go see this and it will be good but Rich and Marc Ford had it going on in the twin lead category.  Magpie salute album is good.

Audley Freed, Marcus King, and Andy Hess? Shit, I'm not even a Chris Robinson fan but I picked up some tickets for that rhythm section alone.

There was a Mr Crowes Garden show in 2004 or so that was amazing. Reunion show with Marc Ford. Also the fall of 2008 with Luthor Dickenson was amazing all three nights at Higher Ground. Moved my soul it did.

Davies Bros:  better band & better fights

My son just got us tics for my 57th birthday ( 4/17) here in Philly at the Electric Factory, we share a love of The Black Crowes ( he says he remembers me blaring it and singing to it in the car when he was young...lol ). I am excited to see this line up and what happens, at this point it's all gravy and about sharing and living every new musical moment to the fullest  ...:)

He is 33 and a very good son, we are also going to a wonderful restaurant for dinner called Ralph's in South Philly before show...

Check it out if your ever in Philly, really great food.

Chris is sick a Hypocrite!

Makes cracks about Magpie Salute trying to feed their families, yet his own greed is what broke up the Crowes!?!

Laughable...

Divorce in Unicorn California is co$tly, putting together a Crowes cover band a few months after ripping your brother about a Crowes coverband is priceless.

A toothache in the ear, he is.

(But say it real "Irish"; not like Yoda.)

This will be a great show, I’m psyched!

I keep seeing Marcus King’s name pop up anyone heard him before?

does he still wear faux patchwork pants?

No one really knows what actually transpired with the breakup of the Black Crowes, and almost all bands end up with acrimonious issues.

Career wise I think what he's doing these days is really cool and admirable. The Brotherhood band is very good, he's playing all sorts of different music with different groups and with everything he's doing he seems to be focused on the music more than an image or big-time popular success, and if he wants to play those old rockers but not with his old bandmates that's fine too.

He should just learn to keep his mouth shut. That's what makes him look bad.

BTW, I saw Magpie Salute and thought they were really good. They were much like the Black Crowes conceptually but I actually liked them better than the BCs, who I could never really get in to.

Speaking of CR projects the local Green Leaf Rustlers shows are this week.

... but with a less annoying lead singer

Was my reaction to their promo vid.

Actually it was pretty public. Chris got all into the hippie thing, which drove Rich nuts and Rich is more of a rocker, which Chris was allegedly sick of. Add in a dose of brotherly fighting and I am surprised they lasted as long as they did.

Chris thinks he became all hippy-dippy, but he also became greedy when it came to figure out who gets what with the Black Crowes.

I think Rich really grasped the hippy creed by wanting to divide the money equally among all band members.

Markus King is a mini Warren Haynes. Could be good.

Neal Casal gets a writing credit on a lot of Chris Robinson Brotherhood songs, perhaps he is the one ripping off the Grateful Dead on all of their songs, although I’m still curious to hear which songs they are (apparently it’s “most every song that Chris has written”).

I occasionally hear GD uh, "tributes" in CRB songs but since I don't know the names of any of his songs despite having heard them live 10 times I can't say which.  They are not a band with memorable songs.  I like the band, and the songs are nice, and I know them when I hear them, and they don't hurt my ears.  But I don't have any big favorites or anything.  No one will be covering CRB songs.

If I'm in town I'll  probably check out the Tahoe show. I'd also check out magpie salute if they played locally but that lead singer just makes me laugh/cringe so I'd probably walk out. Also don't care if I never see either of these acts.

i get a kick out of people who are bothered by CR, though. funny stuff.

So no one can post a CRB song that rips off the Grateful Dead? I’m disappointed I thought I’d get some good Led Zeppelin type stuff here.

I like CRB, & would say the songs "pay homage to" the GD as much as they "rip off" the GD, hell, the GD "ripped off" everyone when they started out, & let's not get started on the Stones & Led Zep.  Also what current/2nd generation jam band doesn't sound like Phish?  Oh wait the ones that sound like Bisco lol.  I will go see CRB when they play within an hour of me, wouldn't travel to see them.

Magpie Salute did seem more like a Crowes cover band, but we saw them @ a festival (Peach Fest last summer), where there was some obligation to deliver a Black Crowes greatest hits show (which they did).  I'd like to see them headline their own gig.

I found the Black Crowes to be Unpredictable over the years, the best shows I ever saw were with Luthur Dickinson in '08.  I remember Chris Robinson making fun of "jambands" back in the early '90's when the Crowes were enjoying popular success, then when they Glommed onto Furthur Fest in '97 they were all of a sudden a "jam band" & Chris was a Hippie.  They sucked just as bad live though.

I wholeheartedly agree w/Chris about DeadCo & Mayernnaise, but in the past have been annoyed with him, especially the Phil shows @ the Warfield in Dec '04, he butchered the lyrics so badly on what were otherwise Epic shows.  I think Mike W said he saw him busy shopping w/Kate Hudson all day buying Gucci & Prada instead of practising.

Chris with Joe Perry and Friends the other night in LA.
