There are many Wonderful Cheese Steak places in Jerseyland...

My current Favorite is Ninuzzo's.  They do it just right.

There is an example of a Very Nice CheeseSteak.  Peppers,  Omions,  Mushrooms and a Fine Italian roll.

I was at a wedding this past weekend just across the Delaware River in the Brandywine Valley.  During the reception, servers were carrying around trays of hors d'oeuvre, including to scale miniature  cheese steak sandwiches the size of your thumb.  Wish I had taken a picture.

Many Zoners (and normal people)  evacuated the East Coast to live in California or Colorado,  for Better Weather.

Who wants 5 months of cruel Winter ??

However,  they can not score a Genuine Cheese-Steak in their new Sunny,  Groovy spot out in Arcata,  Fresno or Oakland.

Even the Pizza 'out West' is just a crippled attempt at the Real Thing.

Chadds Ford?

>>>Chadds Ford?

On an old horse property owned by the the bride's family about six miles south of West Chester.

Hey Stu, I was also in Southern Jersey the past couple days visiting my partner's folks in the heart of tomato country near Bridgeton.   She is from Philly and tells me about the street vendors going around with push carts yelling "Jersey Tomatoes!"

Hard to find a great CS in Fla.

There is a few good ones.

The truly best one is the ones I make at home.

Well,

Darn it Mr. PDX Ken,

Wish you had given me a call while you were visiting South Jerseyland.  Always wanted to meet you and have Lunch.

I am more fond of South NJ,  although my Farm is Dead Center.

Not discriminating against the North part,  but traffic is smoother South of rte. 537.

How old is your partner?  When I lived in Philly (20 years ago) the vendors weren't selling fresh produce, except maybe in the Italian Market (mostly Vietnamese back then)

Used to live in West Chester too. Chadds Ford, Glen Mills, Concordville, some nice areas out there. Did you happen to make it to Longwood gardens during your visit?

My folks are in Kennett Square, PA now. The property they live in (old folks community type thing) adjoins Longwood Gardens on the east side.

Every trip to Wilmo is a valley drive :)

Stu, it was a whirlwind trip, but my limited time in Southern Jersey was certainly interesting.   We took a day trip to Cape May, checked out a few places on the bay (including a place called Shell Pile), and visited a nearby farm owned by my partner's folks' friends.   Got bit up by bugs.

>>>>When I lived in Philly (20 years ago) the vendors weren't selling fresh produce

She is 50, so it must have been the early 1970's.

>>>>Did you happen to make it to Longwood gardens

Not on this whirlwind trip, but we did check that out (and Winterthur) when we were there about three years ago.  Pretty cool places.

ahhh valley cruise, charcoal pit, roller coaster hill, pappy's all those years ago.  Nothing like the valley

SJ does have awesome fresh produce

Looks like Stu got sweet peppers and shrooms on his steak (hold the earthworms).  yum

Mr. Ken,

One of these days we shall meet up and Quaff a Pint.

But,  Cheese Steaks ::

Look at that Delicious item.  Even if you are vegan,  it is succulent.

It looked waaaaaaay better w/o the close up.  Is it considered legit to get them with mushrooms?

>> ahhh valley cruise, charcoal pit, roller coaster hill, pappy's all those years ago. <<

YEAH BABY!!

I can see a fingerprint in the cheese on that mushroom DFC of the close-up--pay extra for that?

>I can see a fingerprint in the cheese on that mushroom DFC of the close-up--pay extra for that?

The underside of a mushroom cap?

Yes,  Mr. or Ms. Alias,

The close-up shot is a bit gnarly,  one wonders "Is them Shrimp or Red Peppers;  are they flecks of Peat Moss or Black Pepper ??"

To clarify,  grilled Red Peppers and coarse-ground Black Pepper,  but I'm not opposed to a light sprinkling of Canadian Sphagnum Peat.

A sad story ::  that sandwich,  I ate about 3/4 of it  and turned my back for about 1/2 Hour to prepare a Dawg Dinner meal.

The Opossums or Raccoons stole my last 1/4 Cheese Steak.

But,  Hüsky enjoyed a very Nice Supper.

That's  Kibble + Canned Food with a garnish of Kale, lightly roasted,  and a Grape Tomato.  The Hüsky enjoys a splash of decoration on his Dawg Food.

^HIM's thinking, "What the hell? Next time I'm eating the whole sandwich."

Actually Mr. Lumber,

It wasn't H.I.M.  that stole the Cheese Steak remainders.  'Twas the Possums or Coons.

He has definitely stolen Food in the past... Bacon,  Steaks,  Ham,  you name it.

One of these days,  Hüsky and your German Shorthair Pointers should get together for a 'Play-Day' Dawg frolic.

He gets along well with small and large Doggies.  They would have a swell time !!

That'd be cool, Stu. Hopefully I will get some free time when the kids get out of school.

And HIM is good. He has you believing that  some varmint ate your sandwich.

Yes,  Mr. Lumber,

His Imperial Malamute can steal People Food very well.

But in this case,  I'm convinced it was the local Hedge Critters.

Anyway,  he gets along with 99 % of Doggies and all Kids.  Chickens,  Guinea Hens or Wabbits,  not really.

Heck yeah,   one of these days we ought to take the Doggies for a swim in  the Bay or  some  Lake.  He's scared of the Ocean,  so that's out.
spy000005_1.JPG
See,  he likes swimming.  That time he stunk of Duck Poop for a couple days.  One of the canals near the Delaware,  either Lambertville or New Hope side.

Stu STOP With Dog Food Pics My God !!!! And A WARNING Prior To Every Freaking Thread STOP STOP STOP !!

HUMANS DO NOT WANT TO SEE FUCKING DOG FOOD PICS EVER !

He should be scared of the ocean, those rip currents kill every year...and people are supposed to know better.

Plf, do you have any pets?

I don't know,

Maybe if you're hung over or nauseous in some way,  pictures of food might be 'Too Scary'.

But that bowl of Dog Food looks pretty nice.  If I were 10 miles from town camping out,  it would look pretty tasty,  especially if I had no 'Mountain House' or other camping food aside from Oats and Granola.  Let's say the fishing pole broke and the Bears stole all the rice :: Heck yeah,  I'll eat that Grain-free kibble garnished with Kale.

And the Cheese Steak has its own appeal,  unless you're a Soy addict.  Even 'those people'  will taste a bit of perfectly-cooked Bacon once in a while.

^Funny, I find most pictures of food to be unappealing. The dog's salad looks festive

Jesus, I can't believe I got taken in with the idea that Stu would be able to cogently converse about cheese steaks.  Never again, he's like some babbling homeless person on the corner whose word salad accidently makes sense for just a moment.

thats a little harsh (I finds his posts funny and harmless)

but to answer your mushroom question, yes, mushrooms on cheeseteaks are very common around here.  Right behind the most common variant, Ketchup and fried onions.

I only noticed with the close up pic that he also had onions on his.  I was disturbed by the close up because my mind kept seeing earthworms. smiley

But can you put mushrooms and ketchup on scrapple sandwiches?

Ah a local fav. You picked that up on your trip? clever.  the real  local debate about scrapple is ketchup or syrup.  I never ate that stuff. Dont eat food with the word crap in it. ga-ross

>>>he's like some babbling homeless person on the corner

add the sweaty, squishy handshake and you're spot on.

You are a fly, Fly. Crap is your diet.

oh yeah. i forgot. yay crap! but i just land on it usually.

bzzz?
