Forums:

charlie tweeted last night that he was boycotting the Thursday night NFL game, at that moment, he was not watching it....way to go, Charlie, but, the game is ....ummm....tonite....

just a lil confused...no biggie

Awful post. I'm boycotting you for one hour, jamboney.

I just realized that I have probably been boycotting Charlie Daniels since around 1979.

No reason for it really, but I have not been listening to him.

You could have put this in the fiddlin' thread, Jam.

i coulda stuck it lots a places, slack...

fiddlin thread woulda fit nice...yes

The devil went down to Washington....

Jamboned again

meh, I'll stick with Jack

leave this long haired country boy alone...

Im confused, does he have any other songs besides The Devil Went Down to Georgia?

Asking for a friend. Of the devil

yes, the great one i just mentioned. he's actually "purty good".

Charlie Daniels is cut from the cloth of "The Good Old Boys".  Having deep south friends who fit in to this particular "club", I have always given them benefit of the doubt, mainly because they always seem more interested in being proud to be southerners than anything else.  They have also been true friends over many years.  Anyways, Charlie Daniels has many great songs. Some of my favorites include Uneasy Rider, Long Haired Country Boy, and Legend of Wooley Swamp.

>>>Legend of Wooley Swamp.

Ha.  I was just spinning this LP on the stereo last night:

The lyrics for the song In America, also on that album, kinda hit home on the need for some sense of unity in this country today:

From The Sound up in Long Island
Out to San Francisco Bay
And everything that's in between them is our own
And we may have done a little bit
Of fightin' amongst ourselves
But you outside people best leave us alone
'Cause we'll all stick together
And you can take that to the bank
That's the cowboys and the hippies
And the rebels and the yanks
You just go and lay your hand
On a Pittsburgh Steelers' fan
And I think you're gonna finally understand

call up trudy on the telephone...

so many good songs early to mid 70 s...helped (along w many others) pave the way for skynard

Now he's Old Greentooth.

If you can find them, the first two 'Volunteer Jam' albums are really good.

Uneasy Rider

Charlie Daniels also played bass in Leonard Cohen's band "the army"
