My license is in History, but I've always taught in alternative programs/schools, so I've had to teach everything. I can't teach upper level Math or Science, but I'm good with the basics.
Although it's not my favorite, I'm actually pretty good at teaching basic numeracy, fractions, percents, etc.
I'm actually in adult ed these days, in an administrative role. I don't have to teach, but I do because I want to.
Three friends are on the bus to never ever land. The trip costs $30 total, so they each put in $10. When they get to never ever land the cowboy at the wheel says "Hey man, I'm feeling groovy, I'm only going to charge you guys $25." and he gives the three friends 5 one dollar bills back.
Now the friends, feeling the love, decide to keep a dollar each and tip the cowboy $2.
As it turns out one of the friends was a math teacher in Vermont, and he got to thinking. Hummmm, we each gave $10 and got $1 back, that's $9 each or $27. Add $2 for the cowboy that's $29.
The 30 is an arbitrary number. They each put in 9 dollars, that is 27. That is what was spent. Cost was 25 and the other 2 went to the cowboy. Period. There is no 30th dollar.

I had to break the 7 down to 6 +1, so the 1 could go with the 9 to make it 10, and then add the 6 to the 10.
