It's certainly possible given the apparent wide range of involvement of Trump's "team" with the Russians to one extent or another. I'd be curious as to what a "threshold" might (if any) be for disqualifying Pence for the job?
If for some reason he gets skipped over, I suspect Ryan would probably tagged as part of the "deep state" ... probably same goes with Hatch.

One key point on Sater, as far as I've gleaned from articles on him (and there are lots of good ones) is that he was convicted of financial fraud in the 90s, and doing business with someone with such a conviction and not disclosing it to the outside people you're trying to do business with can itself be a crime.
