Calpo 5-26-93 - Playin'

Forums:

Some people consider this Playin' to be one of the final pieces of noteworthy music by the band. Others may point and perhaps rightfully so, to the 10-14-94 Scarlet Fire. Regardless, it's mighty fine version.

Truly epic jam in this Playing in the Band. That was the last "great" GD show I saw. All downhill from here.

that was a wild scene.

I was at those shows. Went by myself on a lark after the Shoreline run just before.

I wasn't much into attending Grateful Dead shows at that point, but I had never been to Cal Expo, had nothing else to do and needed to de-stress from Shoreline so I just went for the hell of it and ended up having a real good time.

I thought this show was pretty good for the times.

I remember enjoying the 2nd set Cassidy into Uncle John's Band back into Cassidy the next night.

I wasn't impressed with the venue, but for whatever reason I've always had fun at shows in Sacramento, and I had fun at these.

the link above isn't working for me.

Cool yes, looks like a bad link on my part.

Purportedly per Gans suggestion to Weir.

Looks like they played long second sets in the 90's. I was in Asia at this moment. Probably Penang.  This Playin' is verrry groooovy! Surprised.
