California State of Emergency

Illinois has also declared a Monkeypox emergency. As you know, declaring a state of emergency allows a wider range of treatments, sooner. I guess that there might be more money available in a state of emergency, too.

Unfortunately, the next 12 months is shaping up as a time of emergency on many fronts. Be it a health situation or a political situation or a water availability situation, I suspect we will all see some serious measures being implemented and some serious protests because of them. What ever happened to "we are all in this together?" 

One of the things on my and many other's radar is some news out of New York in the past day or so. Testing of the waste water is showing high levels of polio! I'm not a scientist but it doesn't take a genius to draw a line between the surge of anti-vaxers and polio rearing it's thought to be eradicated head. 

 Racket is a fan of former Governor's Reagan's approach and thinks Monkey Pox is a joke. 

You'd think his type would have learned something since then, especially  after the  recent Covid pandemic. 

None of that ages well.

Aren't we all descended from monkeys?  Some folks are a little over-sensitive.  Everyone should embrace their inner monkey.  Just don't have unprotected sex with it.

For me personally, I like my politicians to at least be professionals.

In this case, where there seems to be an easy fix for this pox problem but the distribution of the fix is at the moment moving laboriously slow, it sounds to me like Newsom is just playing the system to get things moving, which is a pro level thing to do.

He's got my vote!

My cousin is a SF police chaplain, and when Newsom was mayor of SF she had many opportunities to work with & around him. She really liked him, and said that beyond the slick veneer and his obvious love of self, he was a really good guy who wanted to do the right thing. 

Personally, I don't trust ANY politician, but my cousin is a Nun who swears, so I find her credibility to be strong.

I like Newsom and would vote to re-elect him,  despite some of his overly slick persona and occasional vering to the extreme left. I think he also gets dragged left by the legislature too but to me it sure beats the hard right. I think he may have some national appeal but not sure how much as CA politics gets overblown and ultimately may not play well nationwide. Things are going to continue to get 'interesting' over the next 2-3 years anyhow.

I'm not a Nun, but I did meet Newsom once. I agree with his policy positions,  and he delivers!
