Rose does incredible tye-dye art...

maybe a few more shows to add?

I was at Rose and Dave's(Dark Star Oaks) for a private event a week ago Sunday.  Same band minus Rob Barraco.  Was a wonderful time. Not sure if it will be a potluck with the hosts offering a pig, a lamb and a cow again, but I hope so. Any way, I can't wait til the 2nd. Gonna be epic!

Pete says there are shows

California Kind is the band name? You just can't make this stuff up.

Lame name but psyched for the band.

Hopefully they get out of norcal a little for us other folk.

Growers band paid by growers.

They're at TxR on both the 3rd & 4th.

Time to open TXR South

The Group should be called:

how does this band compare to DNB?

Do they play David Nelson Songs?

r they better than moonjorma?

They are a damn good band. Baraco brings some great energy.

But David is David and there ain't nothing like a DNB show.

>California Kind is the band name? You just can't make this stuff up.<

yeah, uh...not good.

Soon Come !! See ya there Everybody.

on a scale of 1-10, with 1 being moonalice and 10 being DNB, where does thi band fall?

:-P

All from the east coast, with the exception of the brit

from the little that i have heard, i say 5.

transplanted kynd

The Laytonville show has been cancelled.  The others still seem to be scheduled.

That's unfortunate. I hope it's not because something untoward has happened to anyone.

Molo never likes playing in hot weather.

word is, the Saturday gig was canceled b/c of weak advance ticket sales... less than 20 sold as of this morning

I was planning on going, and did not purchase an advance ticket... in retrospect, maybe they needed to have a substantial discount for tix bought in advance versus day of show

it's a shame the show was canceled b/c I think that 200+ folks would have attended... don't know how many they needed to break even though

I just committed to going and bought mine yesterday! It's a long drive for me - can't do it again in a couple of weeks.

If it's like the last cancelled event, it will take about 6 weeks to get a refund.

No wonder there are weak advance sales...

I concur.

^^^ Zooey, are you still coming north to attend the Sonoma and TXR shows?

Yes, I'm just sad that we lost Saturday. Maybe they will add another Saturday, and/or that rumored Labor Day show at TXR.

See you there?

yes, I hope to be at both shows... working out the details

I hope to see some of you at TXR!  It's been too long.

Sonoma here I come !!

I guess this means there are only two shows this weekend. What's happening Saturday night?

>>> What's happening Saturday night?

9/2 -- Die Antwoord, Bill Graham Civic Aud., SF (one of Timmy Hoover's faves, lol) ;-)

9/2 -- Amy Helm, Freight & Salvage, Berkeley

9/2 -- Martin Barre, Mystic Theater, Petaluma -- lead guitarist from Jethro Tull

Figures, the one show we plan on hitting for the year, canceled...Oh well, that's rock & roll for ya...

Go to the show!

I'm not sure a faves, but they are extremely fascinating.

They played my buddy's house party this past May for $4K plus he had to rent the PA for like $1000.......(band minus Rob B)

Both shows were great! This is a really good band. My favorite song was "16 Shells From A Thirty-Ought-Six" (Tom Waits) from the Sonoma show.

If you have access to FB you can see many videos from both shows on Doug Clifton's page.

Judit, I agree about her voice <<<

Not me.

hoping for sbd recordings smiley

^Sunday night's show was most definitely recorded via soundboard.

If anyone knows who's "in charge", tell that person to get in touch with archive.org and provide permission to post SBD's.  Or whatever needs to be done for us to listen to these shows.

I'd like to give it a listen!

I've had her song stuck in my head all day. 'There is no getting over you." Verse not the title. I am not even sure of the title.

Really a pretty song. I dig it. And her voice sounds beautiful to me. More so all the time.

Maybe I just need to listen to it a lot. More so all the time. We'll see.

Higher Ground>Can't Find My Way Home

https://youtu.be/tYBgptXsvtw

^I forgot that they played Higher Ground (they did do that, didn't they?)

^^^Mark, I love that Barry plays pedal steel for that tune as well.  Beautiful and catchy, all the way around.

Did Tim record auds of their shows????

Some matrix/SBDs on LMA.

Thank you Sounddog & Budboy...
