I was a casual fan at best before 11/10/1999 New Haven. I would see Bob Dylan any chance I could get and Phil just happened to be opening that night. I do not recall much of Dylan but I clearly remember sitting up in the rafters for the "opening act" and nothing musically has been the same. I was not even sure what I was listening to but it spoke to me.
Saw the Q several times after that and with members of Little Feat and Chris Robinson through to The Dead and Dead and Co. This night in November 1999 opened my mind and ears to music I never would have experienced otherwise.
Anything Derek and Warren touch is gold to me now. I had no idea who they were at the time...and barely Phil for that matter. The music of the grateful Dead has become a big part of my life since that day.
Phil and Friends was the gatekeeper to so much more musically to me...forever Grateful!
I am pleased to that Vivalazone will be carrying on the torch!

That was just about a week or
That was just about a week or so after my first Phil show at Penn State!! I don't think I went to New Haven, but did catch one or two of the other shows that tour. Brendan Byrne I think.... Wallingford? Or was that another tour.
Any other zoners go to that Penn State show? What I remember about it, is that it was super far away from NY, like 100s of miles longer than I expected; it was sort of sparsely attended & nothing against Dylan of course, but it was disappointingly Dylan-dominated (Phil opened w/a short set as I recall).
(Just for a lil trivia, I ended up getting married to the guy I went to that show with, & we had a baby together.
The baby is growing up to be a totally awesome person whom some of you guys have met. The marriage worked out somewhat less well... thankfully we're no longer a couple --- just friends, nowadays.)

Saw Baltimore and Temple on that tour, my first experience with both Warren and Derek. The kid had me with his first notes.
Nice post Pete.

I thought this was a stripper
I thought this was a stripper thread. There's a long standing T-bar in N Boulder called the Bustop.
