I haven't seen him in about ten years, but will be seeing him on April 20. My son saw him a month or so ago in Phoenix. He said he was doing pretty much the same stuff as he was a decade ago. He was performing without a band.
>>He said he was doing pretty much the same stuff as he was a decade ago.
That was my thought as well. I have seen him a few times over the years. I prefer him in a band setting, I felt like the last time I saw him play, I paid to watch him practice with his ipod. My favorite was when the C2B3 did a tour. That was a good one with Claypool, Buckethead, Bernie and Brain. RIP Bernie.
I understand your sentiment but I don't care personally as I study music theory primarily from a guitar experience and this is going to be something new for me. This should be a good one to drop for.
You'll have a fun time, Jay. I concur with UtahJim on all. C2BC was a great show. Seeing him for the first time, Buckethead will not fail to impress. And his shows always seem to be reasonably pried, to boot. Have a great evening and give us a full report.
Last time I saw him was at the 2nd or 3rd Bonarroo w/Praxis. Moving over from The Dead's sloppy mess to that spectacle made the whole weekend worthwhile. The band blew me away.
Show was pretty sick. Dropped at 8 and he came on around 10 so timing worked out great in that regard. He was playing by himself and a drum machine... would of definitely preferred to see him play with other musicians. I was a little thrown off with how much of the overall sound being produced was pre recorded.. at points it was revealed that parts I thought he was playing on guitar were already recorded. He played some Star Wars themes and then lowered his guitar as if it were a weapon and had an effect on that made the guitar sound like a blaster cannon and sprayed the crowd with it for a while as he went into a thrashing/metal riffing segment. Good stuff.
.. a world class talent IMO and for 25 bucks... hell yea.

Jay - If you are up front
Jay - If you are up front near the end of the show he passes out toys, they are usually fairly unique ones.
I saw one of his bands, can't recall the name. They were dressed like they worked in a deli meat counter. The singer was out there.

Because neither zones dig the music she listens to.

Music with no soul? Seriously
Music with no soul? Seriously though, Buckethead has fans here. What else?
When my wife reads the Zones she thinks we’re mostly a bunch of harsh, rude clowns and has no interest. She saw Jerry so she’s cool.

My wife didn't see Jerry so she's not cool.
We're not huge Buckethead fans. More like poseur bucketheads.
She saw Meat Puppets and Roky Erickson twice last year. The zone don't care.
We don't like TTB.
