Long time...my father broke,
Long time...my father broke, cracked, bruised, did some freakin thing to his , while tobagonning with us, when we were kids...and you may, (or may not) want to sit down for this, but not only does it take long time to heal...he said it basically hurt, off and on, forever...
(Butt, i think he actually broke it...i do remember as kids we had alot of fun saying " Dad broke his ass!!"...but, thats what makes me think he broke actual bone...i do know, that i knew the name of that bone for years after..lol, but cant recall it now..co-something?)

I had that (bruised tailbone)
I had that (bruised tailbone) and was just about to go to Las Vegas in a day or two (lots of walking required). What actually fixed me up was Reiki. In that case, "Distance Reiki". The practitioner was very skilled, and we'd gone through actual person - to - person 3D sessions in the past.
Sounds like Crazy Stuff but when it actually works, it's pretty convincing. I slid on Icy concrete step, WHAM !! thought I fractured the Coccyx. Couple days later I felt fine. She was very good at her Reiki skills. Maybe you can find a local person.
Don't think that Booze will really improve the symptoms much. Maybe eat a few Ibuprofen with clean water. Since you're in a 'Friendly State' get some CBD tincture or edibles. For sore joints & bones I gobble extra Calcium & Magnesium supplements and bio-available vitamin C (calcium ascorbate). Glucosamine / Chondroitin also. I do that every day for a few weeks, seems to help.
Whether any of that stuff will actually help you, I can't say. But if nothing else it's pretty harmless. Probably want to avoid mixing Ibuprofen & booze.

Another 'thing' that helped
Another 'thing' that helped tremendously with chronic pain -- Acupuncture. The guy I went to was very good. He happened to be not very far, and had a "Groupon" that covered a few sessions for the regular price of one. Many people think it's quack medicine but actually, acupuncture is many centuries older & developed compared to AMA - style practice. If I had insurance that covered it, I would be going in every other week just to keep tuned-up.
If you find a local Acupuncturist and tell them about your bruised tailbone, they will stick a few pins in your arms & legs and you'll feel much better.
The guy I went to also had this diagnostic machine which charts out various energetic pathways in the body and helps determine which meridians are needing attention. I'm not explaining it quite correctly, but it's a multimeter-like device attached to a laptop. It measures the electric flow in your body and charts it out. "Acugraph" I believe was the name of the program, although there are other similar software/hardware interfaces.

I guess it depends, but had
I guess it depends, but had personally felt remnants of a bruised tailbone at least a year later .... nothing severe by any stretch, but recall the initial trauma taking a couple months to mostly dissapate. Happened at the bottom of the Big Burn lift @ Snowmass ... very icy and slipped as I was trying to unstrap out of my snowboard ... around '92.
