So Bill Simmons said he thinks its 60/40 that Brady will go to the 49ers for a year, and the 40 is that he takes some sort of ownership of the Dolphins instead.
With the price they paid to move up from #12 to #3 to draft Trey Lance & have him sit for a 2nd year? Their 1st & 3rd this year & next year's 1st is a huge investment.
Watching injuries wreck his O Line in the playoffs got him sacked 7 times in 2 games & turning 45 in 6 months? Don't see it.....
^hey, look how well his last understudy worked out.
Seriously ('cause I was kinda joking... I liked what Jimmy G did for the most part), the 49ers are going to have to pick up another QB (or 2), so if Brady wants to come play in the Bay Area for a significantly lower price point than the $25 million Jimmy G is due this year, then I would say yes, but with the understanding that there would be multiple packages per game for Trey Lance (who I have doubts about being ready).
I think this is most likely just sports writers needing something to write about, and Brady's comments on his stepping away have been just vague enough to give them that.
But if he did want to keep playing and wanted to finish his career in the BA, it would be difficult for the team to acquire him. He's not a free agent, the Bucs aren't going to just give him away, the 49ers don't have many resources to give and they have other needs, most notably their pass protection, and Brady NEEDS to be very clean in the pocket to be effective.
(I figure if Brady goes to the 49ers and he is consistently getting sacked, forced to throw quickly while under duress and getting smashed after every throw, Jimmy Garappolo will be somewhere quietly smiling).
All that being said, if they could get him without coughing up a lung and they can improve the protection, I don't think sitting Trey Lance for a 2nd year and continuing to learn behind the best there's ever been would be a deal-breaker, and I think if Brady's serious then the team would seriously consider it.
But I still think it's mostly just empty jabber.
>>>What about Rogers<<<
If he forces the Pack to trade him he would cost significantly more than Brady, and I don't see the Packers trading him to the 49ers.
I think Trey Lance is the 49ers QB in 2022.
And who will we hate then???
GO NINERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't know what the answer is, because he's a damn good coach, but something's got to change if they want to get over the SB hump... maybe they could bring his dad in to teach him how to put his foot on a team's throat.
The two most consistent football fan themes when things aren't going well are that the 2nd string QB is the best player on the team, and the playcalling/coaching sucks.
I don't disagree that Shanahan makes mistakes and isn't perfect, but IMO that data provided is a bit skewed and incomplete.
His 49ers have won a lot of games with really good 4th quarter play, and when playing in a Super Bowl or Championship game the other teams are always really, really good, so it's almost never easy and one really, really good team is always going to lose. But in the world of the average sports fan, someone ALWAYS has to be to blame.
It's funny, because Shanahan was ripped for throwing too much at the end in that Atlanta SB and also the 2019 SB, and then he was ripped for running too much at the end of this year's championship game.
For quite a while there was also lots of chatter that Sean McVay had the same problems, but no one is saying that this week.
Sometimes coaches make mistakes, but sometimes the other team is just a little better, or a great player makes a great play, or luck is on their side.

Seems like a weird move to go for a year but stranger things have happened. Takes Gronk with him?
I do find it hard to believe he's done. He clearly still has gas in the tank.

Given Tom is from the Bay Area it would be fitting for him to play a season here.

Kevon Looney? lol, poor dude works his ass off every single night, then gets to be the goat when Denver wins the game with the 'ole hack-a-shaq.
But if we're looking at the 49ers, I would suggest Shanahan's 4th quarter coordinating.
The team averaged just 6 points per 4th quarter in the 2022 season, which ironically would have been enough to possible win one or more of these:
Super Bowl LI: Falcons 0, Patriots 19 (4th quarter points scored)
Super Bowl LIV: 49ers 0, Chiefs 21 (4th quarter points scored)
2022 NFC Championship: 49ers 0, Rams 13 (4th quarter points scored)
I don't know what the answer is, because he's a damn good coach, but something's got to change if they want to get over the SB hump... maybe they could bring his dad in to teach him how to put his foot on a team's throat.
