Cliff notes: Ignorant, self-serving, and corrupt President surrounded by other sleazeballs

per NYT:

Mr. Trump did not seem to know, for example, that Britain is a nuclear power and asked if Finland is part of Russia, Mr. Bolton writes. He came closer to withdrawing the United States from NATO than previously known. Even top advisers who position themselves as unswervingly loyal mock him behind his back. During Mr. Trump’s 2018 meeting with North Korea’s leader, according to the book, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo slipped Mr. Bolton a note disparaging the president, saying, “He is so full of shit.”

A month later, Mr. Bolton writes, Mr. Pompeo dismissed the president’s North Korea diplomacy, declaring that there was “zero probability of success.”

Intelligence briefings with the president were a waste of time “since much of the time was spent listening to Trump, rather than Trump listening to the briefers.” Mr. Trump likes pitting staff members against one another, at one point telling Mr. Bolton that former Secretary of State Rex W. Tillerson had once referred to Nikki R. Haley, then the ambassador to the United Nations, by a sexist obscenity — an assertion Mr. Bolton seemed to doubt but found telling that the president would make it.

Mr. Trump said so many things that were wrong or false that Mr. Bolton in the book regularly includes phrases like “(the opposite of the truth)” following some quote from the president. And Mr. Trump in this telling has no overarching philosophy of governance or foreign policy but rather a series of gut-driven instincts that sometimes mirrored Mr. Bolton’s but other times were, in his view, dangerous and reckless.

So are we supposed to start acting like John Bolton just woke up and decided to actually have a conscience, or to start being truthful about stuff?

^ and a whole bunch of other stuff....

Apparently John's got a book to sell and a score to settle

If Bolton had a conscience, he would have testified in Congress when they asked him to. He's just working it hard for his two million dollar book contract.

     ...strange bedfellows

What I believe some of you truly do not get, sincerely do not get, honesty do not get, without malice or forethought...is the globalization of the scumbags amongst the quasi-bureaucracy of the deep state, which by definition is an enemy to democracy.

Natural laws of economics exist...in the same spirit, natural laws of democracy exist.

p.s.  John Bolton is a complete scumbag

Those natural laws exist in theory, but down here in reality it's all about getting yours while the getting is good. We're really arrogant to think we've evolved very much.

My great regret was arrogance and egomania, I apologize to those that suffered through it.

Right wing darling of Fox News turns on Trump and the right acts like a hooker showed up at the wedding of one of her Johns. They used to looooooove John Bolton.

During a one-on-one meeting at the June 2019 Group of 20 summit in Japan, Xi complained to Trump about China critics in the United States. But Bolton writes in a book scheduled to be released next week that “Trump immediately assumed Xi meant the Democrats. Trump said approvingly that there was great hostility among the Democrats.

“He then, stunningly, turned the conversation to the coming U.S. presidential election, alluding to China’s economic capability to affect the ongoing campaigns, pleading with Xi to ensure he’d win,” Bolton writes. “He stressed the importance of farmers, and increased Chinese purchases of soybeans and wheat in the electoral outcome. I would print Trump’s exact words but the government’s prepublication review process has decided otherwise.”

At the same meeting, Xi also defended China’s construction of camps housing as many as 1 million Uighur Muslims in Xinjiang — and Trump signaled his approval. “According to our interpreter,” Bolton writes, “Trump said that Xi should go ahead with building the camps, which Trump thought was exactly the right thing to do.”

Every single person to leave this administration has said the same thing...  Trumps fucking nuts!  A true traitor to democracy!

Sorry, this made for TV movie of a president is a total sham, and should face trial for a long list of crimes along w/ all those that protect his godless, murderous, UV light filled ass!

^^ you get the whole kit and cabboodle homie

...it's the "all of them" statement I have an issue with, as well as the notion the President is inherently racist.

All due respect and complete and true respect to those that have suffered injustice.

glad you're paying attention

trump kills

It's like a fireman showing up after a building is reduced to burning embers, ready to fight the fire.

Not sure if better late then never applies.  Donald being more interested in serving his own needs, is not new.

It's fun watching the right turn on one of it's own.  Most realize the truth in much of what our fireman is saying, still why let facts stand in the way of sycophant desire.

So which of these was Trump most interested in Pompeo accomplishing with his meeting with Kim Jong -Un

(1) condemning the regime for escalating their pursuit of  ICBM nuclear missile development and denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula

(2) pressing US economic sanctions for human rights violations

(3) delivering a Trump signed CD copy of Elton John's "Rocket Man"

<of the scumbags amongst the quasi-bureaucracy of the deep state, which by definition is an enemy to democracy.>

You know... you amuse me with your ignorant parroting of who? Where do you get your information? Do you even know any Federal workers? Did you ever work for the government?

I did. For a giant government bureaucracy. 7,000 people in one building. Guess what... the Deep State of which you speak.... is in actuality a bunch of G-10s trying to kiss up to their boss (a G-12) so they can keep their wider-than-average tan cubicle at the end of the row (all cubicles facing inward, so no one gets a favored window view).

Basically, I found that 1/3 of government workers are really smart, dedicated public servants that make sure the things we all count on work reasonably well. 1/3 are just regular hardworking  "average" people that do their job and leave.  And 1/3 just take coffee breaks all day and take advantage of the system in order to to contribute as little as possible.

The boss is a Presidential appointee so the Department heads are following the policies of whatever administration is in office. One year "IT security" is the big priority... that person leaves and then "go mobile" is the priority. That person leaves and "customer service" is the theme of the year. The Deep State employees are just regular people trying to keep unfinished projects going while their project managers play musical chairs.

There are no tables full of trench coat wearing turncoats whispering amongst themselves in the lunchroom. Just like other jobs, people get know their co-workers and you know who shares your political opinions -- no one wants to stir things up on the job. Especially since it is really hard to get fired from a Federal job, and you might be working with that person your whole career. (The not getting fired part contributes more to laziness than to rampant incompetence.)

Most are more concerned about the upcoming birthday party or retirement party or baby shower or new doughnuts in the cafeteria than plotting against anything. They just want to go home.

Does the government waste countless amounts of money? Yes (pretty literally).  Do Federal workers have it better than many comparable workers in the private sector? Yes. But you know whose even worse in terms of waste and bullshit and selfserving politics...... government contractors. Why not rail against the Military Industrial Complex if you think you're getting screwed so badly. The Deep underneath the State.

^ excuse typo - "who's" not "whose"

If you blindly support a racist

what are you?

If you whole heartedly support an amoral  robber baron

just because he hates the left

yet he is a moron

does that make you a moron?

peace

Trump's twitter feed should be raging tonight.

>And Mr. Trump in this telling has no overarching philosophy of governance or foreign policy but rather a series of gut-driven instincts that sometimes mirrored Mr. Bolton’s but other times were, in his view, dangerous and reckless.

boy that is a roll of the dice to choose between the two of them

Everyone who has left or has been fired paints the exact same picture with different damning details to add of an inept, hateful, ignorant malignant narcissist who is way out of his depth and in way over his head.

So either they are all "dopes" as Trump has asserted...down to the last one, and he's the world's worst judge of character in history for bringing all of these characters in.

Or......

The people who worked closest with him and know him best are correct and paint an accurate picture.

I suspect I know the answer.

he's the world's worst judge of character in history for bringing all of these characters in.

and

The people who worked closest with him and know him best are correct and paint an accurate picture.

If the info in Boltons book wasnt dead on, Trump would be suing for defamation/ libel.  Instead he is suing to block it.

So Trump is confirming the stories are true.

He just doesnt want you to hear them

Bolton is no hero. He sat on the truth about Trump until he could make millions. Anyone who is surprised by Bolton's 'relevations' hasn't been paying attention. By claiming that the book is somehow violating confidentiality, Trump is just confirming the truths contained within.  Bolton could have just gone before Congress and testified under oath during the impeachment hearings when the Democrats requested his testimony. Instead he waited for a subpoena which never arrived and would have taken years to make its way out of the courts. It also just goes to show how horrible the Trump regime is when someone  like Bolton is looking decent..

bolton will vote for trump in nov.

how many liberals here have purchased the book from amazon?

we know nanc has it on prime order.

Have a seat, Bro. You don't know a damn thing other than your weak  talking points from RT. You're an embarrassment. Nobody needs to purchase this book, but enjoy your delusions.  Last thing anyone should do is line Bolton's pockets.

>>>Does the government waste countless amounts of money? Yes (pretty literally).

As someone who has spent way to long working in corporate America it is the exact same thing over here.

Trumps  Cliff Notes on Bolton book:

Classified Lies supported by Alternative facts...

Adam Schiff was on the news this morning, and they asked him if he was going to get the book. His response was something akin to, "I'm not giving that scumbag any of me money."

I guess Bolton says in the book that it's the Democrat's fault that they didn't call him to testify, and if he had Trump would have been impeached. He is a scum. The House did call him to testify and he refused, saying he'd only talk to the Senate. He knew damn well that the Republican led Senate wouldn't allow testimony.

>>As someone who has spent way to long working in corporate America it is the exact same thing over here. <<

Oh, I know.  The Bay area tech world weirdly led me to being hired for a while by a big defense contractor that provided services for the government. (I was not working on anything weapons-related -- quite the opposite), but here is a typical event:

We had 68 thousand dollars left at the end of a contract year. It's an unwritten rule to never leave anything on the table or the former budget (with the "extra" money in it) will not be renewed.  You will get less money for the upcoming year because you spent less / saved the year before. However, no for-profit business wants less money. Especially a big corporate giant sucking the taxpayer-funded government teat. They always want more money. Inflation, you know.

So my boss went thu a catalog to buy a piece of equipment that cost $68,000. She found one. We purchased it -- a guy came out and gave a demo -- and we billed for the training hours to learn how to use it -- and we put it in the corner -- and it sat there for years. After a while, no one was left that remembered how to operate it. We didn't really need it in the first place.

That's just one little contract in one corporate project. Multiply that thousands of times. This was the same company that hired you and you sat around literally doing nothing for two weeks because that was how long it took to get you set up with a computer. But you had to bill for training time, even though you had no computer to train on. And you had to complete all the orientation forms online before you could do anything - so there was no making productive use of one's time. Multiply that by hundreds of employees just in one building.

Everything was billed to the government. My wage plus their substantial sub-contractor markup. But I couldn't be hired directly by the government -- oh noooo -- because some politician decided to reduce Federal employees. "Let's reduce the size of government. And privatize". Even though it cost more. Rest assured, none of the wasted taxpayer money went to small mom and pop operations. All got skimmed off by the corporate conglomerate.
