Bobby Weir & Wolf Bros (Eugene content)

Forums:

Have tickets for a Bob and Wolf Bros show in Eugene on October 22 and there is absolutely no lodging in town.   The Ducks are playing UCLA.   All the campsites at Armitage County Park where we camped for Phil are also booked.  Found a $250 "cottage" in someone's back yard on Hipcamp.com, but damn.

Anyone going to Bob in Eugene and have any ideas on lodging other than overpriced back yards or camping on the street?

Eugene strikes me as a sleep-in-your-car kind of town.

^Well, I never!! LOL

I don't know of anything, but if I hear of something I'll let you know. Good luck.

Ken, I used to pass through Eugene a lot.  I don't know if it's still the case, but the High Street Brewery was always cool about letting you sleep in your vehicle overnight in the parking lot behind the place, as long as you got moving before they opened the next day.

Have any connections at the Oregon Country Fair?  Might be able to camp there.

Thanks.   If it was just me, I could camp in the back of my Subaru, but will have my girlfriend with me and it would be a little tight.   If I had a van, probably could swing it.   Also looking for something close in so we can Uber to and from the show.

Seems like a major effort for Los Slowbros.

Anybody have an extra for 10/16 at the Warfield ?

Zing! Funny mfer, Los Slowbros lol

Beware, there's plenty of assholes in Eugene these days - Stay classy U Of Oregon

" Fuck The Mormons "

I used to like that team too but from now on it's Fuck A Duck

Oregon Governor Kate Brown released a statement Sunday, saying:

“In Oregon, we strive to be a welcoming, inclusive state to all, regardless of race, religion, gender, or background. Our state and nation have an ugly history of discrimination and bigotry. The chant at yesterday’s Oregon-BYU game was unacceptable. We must do better.”

Judit you don't have a place for Portland Ken to put a tent ior vehicle n your place!?

Ras, mormons have better "raps" anyway!

...and, cool, pop-up Shakedown Street and Crash Party at dolittle's place!

Dose and drive home.

just curious: what is meant by "a cougar and a tent?"

doolittle, don't you think that Judit would have offered up her place already?

that's an impolite suggestion on your part!

this concludes my series of feisty posts today. have a good one all!

> Dose and drive home.

When I was living in the Hartford area in the 80s, that was my MO for lots of Spring and Fall tour shows. Maine and Philly were a stretch if I had to work the next day, but everything in between was pretty much fair game.

You could camp in our yard for free, but it's an hour from the show.

If one or both of us had tickets, we would drive you both ways.

But we don't.

sad

You could always just crash a campsite...

High demand for crowded campsites leading to fights, arguments, Oregon parks officials say:

Didn't folks just go through this for Phil back in June?

At least Bob's playing indoors when it rains.

I have a pair of e-tickets that I need to unload -- really good seats! -- to the Wolf Bros show this Friday October 21 in Eugene at the Hult Center's Silva Concert Hall. I bought the tix on pre-sale in late July, but now realize I can't use 'em myself so I'm offering them up here on Viva for below face at $70 OBO each (face  + fees was $90 apiece). Here's the deets:

Mezzanine (lower balcony), Row B (2nd row!), Seats 226 & 227 (Dead-center!) -- see the seating chart at https://hultcenter.org/seating-plans/

I also have a reservation for Friday night at a Motel 6 in nearby Springfield, located about 5 miles from the venue. The room I reserved was for 2 adults and has 2 full beds and came to an even $90 for the night. I can cancel that reservation but I know that lodging in the Eugene area is at a premium that weekend because of the big game at Autzen on Saturday between the Ducks and UCLA. Not sure if I can transfer my room reservation to another person, but I'd be willing to try if somebody really needed or wanted the room. https://www.motel6.com/en/home/motels.or.springfield.9461.html

If interested, hit me up at the email address in my Viva profile. Payment via PayPal is preferred. Go Bobby, and Go Ducks!

Nice offers, Gary. I sent Ken a message but think he might only want motel for Saturday.

Thanks Gary.  Still looking for a hotel but we are going down only for Saturday.  I know that there are people on the Bigfoot County FB group that are also looking.  If no Zoners take you up on your ticket/hotel offer and can see if anyone on that forum is interested.

Thanks, Judit and Ken. I'm bummed I can't attend the Friday show myself... would like to see the tix go to somebody in our loose circle of phriends and acquaintances.

Update:   I have been checking Hotels.com regularly for cancelations and just found a room at the Parkway Inn just six blocks from the venue!

^^^ Yay!! good work!

Garyfish, I may know someone... (not me) will write ya later

Seems like a major effort for Los Slowbros.))))))))))))))))

These guys are not Los Slow Bros and having listened to Phil at The Cap and attending these shows I am so glad I went w Bobby. This band is very good and has Barry Sless in it.

Seen on Facebook, description of the Wolf Bros/Pack on this Nugs review

Have fun tonight folks!

"Dress to the hilt for the Hult."

^ I remember that. Those were fun times.

We are dressed up and at the Hult.  Bobby is in fine form but Slow Bros for sure.

Brother Esau.

Queen Jane.

Row Jimmy.

Tennessee Jed.

Dark Star.

Throwing Stones.

Maybe something else.

Full sound but half speed.

Picked up a nice piece of wood art in the parking lot which is now at coat check.

It's halftime. I'm having a lot of fun with this crazy music. It's just what I wanted. Like planned chaos but not contrived. I am sure others Zoners will come along and do an actual review. And maybe a Setlist. Thanks, Ken, I see your list and can't remember what else they played

It's funny I'm liking the pace and wouldn't have called it slow. Maybe because it seems like there's enough space for all of the instruments' sound. Ken, perhaps you can take a photo later of the art you got and post it.

Will do.

Need a miracle.

They also played Liberty in the first set.

Sless update, please!

Sless is just playing pedal steel.  Wish they would hand that guy a Les Paul and take into overdrive.

Scarlett Begonias, UJB, into Lazy Lightning, UJB.  All half speed.

Fever

Morning Dew

One More Saturday Night

Broke Down Palace

I thought Fever was a standout. I liked almost everything they played a lot, would have liked Sless and Was to be more audible. Loved the strings, brass and woodwinds. Loved that I didn't always know what the next note(s) played would be. The layering of sound was thick at times but I didn't find it objectionable more than a couple of times.

I'm very happy I went.

Had a great time. The Wolf Pack adds some nice layers to certain songs. Scarlet>Fever>UJB was very cool, but the Dew was spectacular.

Bobby announced that all of the songs in the first set were in key of  "A".

Judit, I'm glad you made it to the show and had a good time.

I like the band, most of the time I think they sound pretty good.

Thanks, LCL. It's pretty easy for me to have a good time since I very rarely have any expectations and am easily amused. I went by myself, that made things extra easy.

I will say that the level of chatter was ridiculously high; I wished that Weir had been wearing his STFU shirt and using it.

I agree with you about liking the band and thinking most of the time that they sound pretty good.

>>>>I will say that the level of chatter was ridiculously high;

We found a spot way up in the rafters where we had almost a whole row to ourselves, so it wasn't much of an issue.  But towards the end of the second set, there were some people talking way loud right behind us.   Gave them a couple nasty looks and they got the message.

The venue was really nice.   Can't recall ever seeing a show there before.  Cool architectural features with great sound.

Here is the art I picked up.   Not really into stuff in general, but am a sucker for Cats Down Under the Starts images so custied up for this wall art:

^Nice Piece, Ken! Thanks

I'm a Cats art (and song) person, too. There's so much going on it that piece, are those little stones in the bolt? Enjoy it, Ken.

I had most of a row in the Mezzanine to myself but the din was all around from floor level and up. As people stopped in to my row to sit/stand for a while the talk got louder, but was manageable. Mostly.

I might have run for the hills. I'm trying to be more tolerant of bagpipes but not successful yet.
