Jeff Tweedy, Buddy Guy and Peter Sagal

I first heard back in California Branford and Chimenti

Then as your rolled on I’ve heard Larry and Theresa and Chimenti

Out front just now I was told Treys in town again

so.....who knows.

I’d put money on Chimenti at least one night though

Tour rolled on that is...

That looks more like Larry's rig up there

Looks like a baby grand stage right.

Rumors of Jeff Chimenti sightings in Chicago today

any streams for tonight?

Good evening folks. All these rumors are exciting.

A big shout out to Scott Uptown a local boy. Looking forward to your review brother.

It's Jeff, Larry & Theresa.

I am still in awe of streaming technology.  To be able to tune in to shows from anywhere in the world from the comfort of our couches. Who are the happiest heads outside of Chicago?

I see Phil still has a furry weasel living in his shirt.

Crowd is boisterous and pumped. Super singalong night.

Voting is a terrible thing to waste

I thought that was the best of the five first sets.

Great song selection.

Agree Paul Solid set now for the Joker......

That was a blast, this next set could be really special, if we get jeff on acoustic piano, and Larry on violin / mandolin / Cittern...  voicings!

Oh wait, what just popped up on the net;

I’m thinking Jeff’s presence will offset some of the Americana that Larry brings...

I would love for Jeff to get jazzy, take it outside!

"jazzy"

"outside"

thanks for the laughs, noodler. enjoy the set.

Haha. wow.

Here here!

Perspective is important.

Not everything has to be Coltrane to be good.

Or at least enjoyable.

It's a sign he loves me, or he wouldn't waste the time, I feel quite honored...  I may even put extra creamcheese on the bagel tomorrow!

Fire on the mountain

Dark Star  sweet!

While I've never enjoyed Teresa's singing, that Dark Star line was really hard to listen to. Like really hard.

NOT El Paso...Derp!

Hard Rain! Much better...

I'm late to the party, but am really enjoying this Bird Song

Agreed Johnny D

Lots of repeats.

What a drag. This duo had such great potential.

Horrible in that sense.

Hi johnny.  Welcome.  The duo have sprouted in to a band tonight. Great song selection. Special performance.

Agreed. Great show!

Seems similar to Further in that Bob & Phil alternate nights

- tomorrow will be Bobby's setlist and Bobby's guest(s)

Don't think Bobby's played Sugar Mag at this tempo in some time.

This is delightful.

Hey Kenny!  This is my first chance to sit still and catch this tour.

Last time I was at the Chicago Theater was in 1992, when Buddy Guy opened for B.B. King.  THAT was a fun night.

Enjoy!

No he hasn't.

And yes it issmiley

Hearing Chimenti in the mix was a fine addition. They didn't play One More Saturday Night! and I didn't miss it.

I'm so glad there are streams. I've loved the first sets especially and Phil all the time, and would love it if they played an all instrumental show.

Viva Phil!

Kool thanks for the loopie linkie,i crashed during set break

Me too. Thanks KK.

Chimenti is OK, Campbell and Williams ain´t worth nothing for this kind of music, sorry. Glad I didn´t attend being them the special guests. Proof Phil´s not perfect with this kind of musical phriends.

Only caught a few songs from the first set, but was VERY impressed ... kind of almost eerily impressed.

Phil could not have been "Phil" without Bobby being "Bobby", and same goes in the other direction.

Seems to offer up more support for the "broken hologram theory"; with remaining broken pieces being able to "reconstruct" the original - each from their own perspective.  Having another broken piece nearby seems to aid in the "reconstruction process".

Face on Mars...u nailed it! That describes what we heard, what we saw. Foundations of Grateful Dead music making..brave and  beautiful, the naked sound

Wow, really ?  Larry and Chimenti  added in nicely I thought, Larry is an amazing and talented musician and always plays well with Phil in my opinion :).  Maybe you would of rather had Mayernaise or whatever his name is ( I really do not like him at all as a musician )..... but that would explain a lot to me !

Who would you pick as "preferred guests"  just wondering ?

Lee Ranaldo and Nels Cline

Mayer, same (weak) level than Campbell IMHO. No depth. So the best guest this run was Anastasio. Ingram was also OK. Who´d I pick? The Quintet, of course, but other good option as a guitar player would be Barry Sless.

I only saw the first set last night, but I thought that Bob's playing was stellar, particularly on Ramble on Rose.  That was beautiful.  Phil's playing, as usual, was Philicious.

Count me in on the pro-Larry campaign.  I love his playing with Phil.

Does anyone know who the was playing the instrumental music during the break on the mixer link last night? It was extremely good. It began with Eyes>King Soloman's Marbles. The pianist also played Slipknot! And a cool Althea. It was a live recording with a small audience it seemed to my ears. Almost sounded like a piano bar.

That sounds like Holly Bowling by your description.

Yes! Excited to be here.

I'm going to start a new thread for tonight's show.

EB Fox, Zoner at the show! Yay!

have fun EB!!  Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on this tour.

tried for tix when they went on sale, no dice.

@Schwadude that is it. Wow! I can not believe I have not heard of her before. The version of Eyes she performs had her transcribing Jerry's solo from Louisville 1974 note for note...no wonder it made such an impression on me last night.

Even better she is doing an East coast tour next month too. We'll definitely be in Bridgeport.

Much thanks.

Gotta teach soon here, so I can’t elaborate much. However..,. just seriously wow on all aspects of last night’s show. The first set alone, especially The Maker, was worth the price of admission alone. That song was just stunning and nearly brought me to tears. The musicianship of Bob and Phil together was so wonderfully connected and just gorgeous. I feel incredibly blessed to have been there. The addition of Larry, Theresa, and Jeff in the second set was the icing on the cake. Brokedown Palace- again just beautiful. MOTM>Cryptical>Let it Grow>The Other One>Cryptical- ummmmmmmm, Hell yeah!

For real troubadour. We were standing on the same plain of reality in that beautiful

theatre last night. Resplendent. Majestic. Exquisite are the closest words

to describe these gigs when they peaked

Cool Stellablu.  Your description made it obvious to me who you were talking about.  I'm glad you get a chance to see her.  I saw her with Phil and Bob at the Sound Summit last Summer.  She's great.  Enjoy her show.
