Every nerve in my body is so naked and numb
I can't even remember what it was I came here to get away from
Don't even hear the murmur of a prayer
It's not dark yet, but it's getting there

Visalia, CA, 2000.

This was a sick show. We got Blind Willie McTell (featuring Larry Campbell), the very rarely played

Dear Landlord, then a song later, Not Dark Yet.

Talk about a night in the middle of Hayseed, CA with Bob. Unforgettable.

Not Dark Yet indeed........

Good thread Plf

His 2019 take on this song is without peer

absolutely haunting. He started to add an echo to the vocal later in the tour to great effect

2000 was a truly epic year in the Never Ending Tour. I did Santa Cruz, Concord, Shoreline and Bakersfield from what I recall.

Sure the The Band will always be "The Band" but I'll take Kemper, Sexton, Campbell, Garnier any day of the week.

Regarding Not Dark Yet, it was the best song of the night last time I caught Bob, at the Beacon last November. Spellbinding.

That was a great band and i was thrilled Charlie came back...It was a highlight of my life introducing my 5 year old daughter Johanna to Charlie last year at the Bowie tribute. She got to meet a member of Dylan’s band, played a Spider from Mars’ keyboard(Garson) and was given ear plugs by Bernard Fowler of Rolling Stone fame. Was quite a night

Wow, that 2019 version is wonderful. However, I prefer the original, there's more resolution in the tune. Saw a great version in Tahoe 2010. Dylan is our Shakespeare! Who wrote Dylan, anyway?
