Who out there, that is relatively new to the scene, is as exciting a talent as he?   Hope he has a long and happy career. He is off on the right foot.

Hour plus set from Lollapalooza on Hulu last night. That kid has mad talent and great musicians all around him. Even threw a lil psychedelic sounds into a bluegrass song. Pure love there.

Margo Price doesn't lean on the EDM light show. She's 39 and been on the scene since 2014. She is on the Board Of Directors for Farm Aid.

Trombone Shorty  is 36.  Since he started performing at age 4, he's been on the scene a little longer.  He closes Jazzfest.

Brandi Carlile recorded her debut in 2006.  She's 41 now.  She just brought Joni Mitchell out of a 22 year hiatus at Newport last weekend.

The kids coming in my store seem pretty gakked out about Billie Eilish and Phoebe Bridgers.  Billie Eilish isn't really my cup of tea.  Haven't listened to much Phoebe Bridgers yet.

Apostol-ites seem to eat this stuff up

Why didn't Weir do stage dives. He lunged forward. Climbed speaker stacks. Missed opportunities I guess.

<< out there, that is relatively new to the scene, is as exciting a talent as he?

I'm sure there's more than a few.

This young cat could mop the floor with Billy Strings. Of course I'm partial to the blues over that tinka tinka light bullshit BS plays.

nobody, mark. Dude is a bone fide rockstar checking every single block and operating fully on his own level

Prince. Elvis. Mozart. Eddie VH. Aretha Franklin. Michael Jackson. Garth Brooks. Billy Strings.

As long as he stays alive and keeps on doing what he is doing, this is how he will be remembered in a hundred years.

All that aside, I am impressed at how he gets around the regional clauses that typically surround artist's festival appearances....why isn't Phil playing some Chicago club(s) or theaters before/after his Sacred Rose gig?

Billy should work up a jamgrass tune called "Hyperbolic".

> As long as he stays alive

Or go belly up like Ryan Adams.

Billy's the shit. I don't jump on bandwagons much, but this guy has got it all, and if that's hyperbole, it's because he's earned it.

>>Billy should work up a jamgrass tune called "Hyperbolic"<<

hahahaha

it's actually the b-side to his forthcoming single; Bitter Boomers

The kid is fantastic, no doubt about it, and he's popular, white and cute, he got it all goin on. He just fails to ring my bell. Maybe I'm just not listening to his good stuff. If you have something hot to share by all means do. I caught a show from Westville last year, it was good, but I'd say medium good. His bluegrass stuff makes makes me want to put on the nitty gritty dirt band, you know, folks that know how to do it well. Maybe he has another gear I may not have heard.

I saw that sci shakedown street youtube - not good a'tall. Send the goods if they exist.

Kingfish smokes that boy like a nice fresh salmon.

Bobby wasn't gonna count on spun Deadheads to catch him.

Or mess up his hair.

Ras, did you catch the Billy & Trey show from a month ago? Billy pretty much owns the Back on the Train.

Edit: I just got an email from fans.live. They re-extended the deadline for viewing the Billy Incident show to this Sunday.

But would you want him to stage dive.

Billy played an extra solo set instead of taking an intermission yesterday in Indianapolis.  Nice gesture.  His heart's in the right place.

Maybe being so close to Bean Blossom made him miss the flatpicking more than the untz untz?

> Billy played an extra solo set

He did that at one of the Santa Barbara shows I saw last spring, and even played banjo for a couple of tunes, and I've read about him doing it at a few other shows too. It's part of a pattern, and not just a gesture. Dude's killing it, and keeping it real.

Uh, I already know he has done the occasional solo set at intermission, Mike.  No need to go all mansplaining here.  Just trying to give credit where credit is due.

Dave, your post said contained no such acknowledgement, and if you feel like you're the recipient of some mansplaining, that's on you.

Oooh, sweet burn Sensei.

You're just like Charlie Brown's teacher to me.  {rolls eyes, inserts earbuds}

That's funny. I always saw you as the Peppermint Patty type.

I want to see Kingfish stage dive.

^ been waitin' for that comment. Only 5 days late, not too bad for a zoner tho.
