So, is the fiddle player a regular member now, or was that just added color for TV?
I hope he is, because for me personally the flowing nature of a fiddle is always needed in the otherwise all strumming/picking nature of the bluegrass-acoustic band sound.
> does it seem they all dressed to hide Billy's tattoos?
I don't know about hiding tats, but the performance did seem to have an eye on the mainstream, probably because we're headed into Grammy season and Billy has a couple of nominations. No jamming to speak of and they got it done in under 4 minutes. Still a pretty sweet performance.
Lancey Pants, I hope he keeps Alex on. I think he had his eye on John Mailander but JM is touring with Hornsby and has his own band. It's fair to say the majority of Billy String's fan base would love if he added a permanent fiddle player.
Talk shows have really short time slots for bands, they played Know it All SUPER fast even for them. I think if they had the time they would've opted to play a more jammy jammed out version 100%. The sound seems a little off to me. Maybe the room isn't great for acoustic, most recordings from their soundboard have a deep, rich tone that's not all there on the video. Not sure if their regular sound engineer was doing this show or if cbs has a guy.

a fiddle is good.. but not necessary on all his song.
probably would fine with keyboardist, and why not add a drummer?
I'll take whatever he decides. His quartet is also perfect
