Billy Strings and friends - Baltimore

Haloween show. One of the best performances I ever watched on "tv".  Billy Strings must be channeling all the musicians in heaven (perhaps hell, too). Last night he superseded his own self --

Notes

Billy Strings as the Wolf Man, Alex Hargreaves as the Mummy, Jarrod Walker as Frankenstein, Royal Masat as Dracula, and Billy Failing as the Bride of Frankenstein

Billy comes out shredding the PRS his momma gave him years back on her first heavenly birthday

Down in the Hole - Cris Jacobs a Balitmore local joins for Tom Waits' "Down in the Hole" used as the theme song for iconic Baltimore based show "The Wire." Also Andy played this song as walk off music at the Baltimore show in 21 or 22.

First set consisted of Frankenstein themed songs and Mummy themed songs

Blood Sucking F(r)iends is a killer nod to Greensky as they celebrate their 25th anniversary as a band tonight!

Vince Herman danced across the stage in pink tutu during the short 'intermission' during set 2

I Put a Spell On You - Screamin' Jay Hawkins walk off tunes

IMO Cory Henry (keys) was the guest MVP of the show. He's incredible!

You're getting a nice run of shows Alan!

Wonder if Billy sticks with the Horror theme tonight or switches things up for All Saints Day?

Dise - I don't think I've ever seen Billy sing without his guitar on. I don't know if wearing a costume made him "lose his inhibitions," but he was especially animated and engaging with just him behind the microphone. Quite the showman. Special shout out to local fave Cris Jacobs (The Invisible Man) for second guitar.

Dave - yeah a bunch of shows in a row is not typical for me outside a festival. Credit my wife for the motivation. Thankfully, she's got good taste in music.

2 outta 3 shows were stellar (Del and Jorma) in intimate classic venues (a refurbished old theater in York, PA and a an old opera house in Wilmington, DE) and even same-ol JGB was solid (for a Sunday night with a small audience at the local JCC).

If Billy and his band plays half as well as they did last night, I'll be satisfied. I think we'll take the light rail downtown to avoid the parking dilemma. Plus, our bank cards get us access to a special lounge / bar and bathrooms! If that all goes smoothly, it could be a perfect night.

Alan, Billy knocked You Got a Friend In Me guitar-less out of the park. I definitely didn't expect that! I'm not a Randy Newman fan (not a hater either) but it was a great rendition of a sweet song. One of my friends suggested Bill probably sings it to his baby son a lot which does make sense. Monster Mash was super fun too, he did the voice! Cris Jacobs is a monster and was for sure crushing it from Frankenstein to vocals. Every Halloween Billy and crew put on a top shelf theatrical extravaganza with great special guests all stops are pulled out. The pyrotechnics and bat drop during War Pigs was great fun and a nice tribute. I thought Billy looked pretty uncomfortable on the lift platform during Biting List, maybe there was a hitch with that bit. Halloween is his mom's birthday, this is the first year since her passing so that must have been a tough night to get through in some ways. Hoping they go with the holiday theme tonight too but not holding my breath for it. Those costumes were fun, but looked a bit cumbersome (CJ was struggling with the face bandages when he was on vocals).

I  just got home and settled and just wanted to report that I can barely tell ya what they played, but that was the closest vibe to the Kaiser Auditorium that I've experienced im a long time. I've only seen BS outdoors before.

Yep, I was pretty out there and the music put me over the top....

I am still recovering <3.

Finished watching the Halloween show.  So much fun!  Dude can rock when he wants to.

The funny mummy songs and Jarod and Billy F doing the Frankenstein and Bride of Frankenstein duet were real treat.

I just watched Arabia from Halloween, what a treat! An incredibly difficult piece and they nailed it, loving the bass solo, who does that? Only Billy. I definitely need to watch the whole thing, thanks for all the notes and info!

any one know if this is up for download?  thanks
