Billionaire No More: Patagonia Founder Gives Away the Company

“And the Chouinards didn’t get a charitable deduction for it. There is no tax benefit here whatsoever.”
More people could benefit hugely from actions like this.
First time I tried I was able to read the article, second time there was a paywall. I hope you can read it, it's a plan that's interesting and makes sense for the greater good. Check it out.

Admirable

Give it away now

Back in the 60s, Chouinard revolutionized rock climbing. I hope this move leads the way in a similar fashion where the wealthy and their fortunes are concerned.

Still gonna eat him

Yes, but since all the money is gone, a fine Chianti is out of the question, so some Two Buck Chuck will have to do.  We may still be able to afford the Fava beans.

Cute.

Late news: Fred Franzia, creator of 'Two Buck Chuck' and champion of affordable wine, has died

^^ I saw that the other day and I did not know that Franzia was behind 2 Buck Chuck after a prior Charles Shaw bancruptcy. Still typically available at Trader Joe's for $2.99. RIP Fred Franzia.
