Best music streaming shows?

Forums:

With a large percentage of musical acts trying to provide live/tapped musical content for their fans, as expected, some are really good at it and many are better than nothing. I work at home these day so I've been able to catch quite a few of these streams since lockdown. I've also noticed the move away from free content to some form of pay to watch. I expect a lot more performers to switch to the pay mode since it is probably going to be a long time to any sort of regular in-person shows are available and with the state of buying music in the poor state it is, they realize that they need to bring in some revenue or finish that accounting degree they dropped out of years ago.

I would like to highlight streams that I've found quite good and ask other Viva members to chime in if they have found something that they feel worthy of checking out regularly. I will attempt to let people know if they are free or for pay but many of the free shows are switching over so that might change at any moment.

The one show that I've watched regularly since it's free debut has been Jesse Malin's Fine Art of Self Distancing ( a word play on Jesse's album, The Fine Art of Self Destruction.) I could see Jesse being tapped as the host of a late night talk show since he has incorporated interviews (Debbie Harry, HR of Bad Brains, Lucinda Williams) an alter-ego comic, solo and band performances, book reviews and all sorts of other stuff that all seems to be informative, funny and filled with PMA. The last show had both Graham Parker and Joseph Arthur as musical guests. You can catch the show at Veeps.com on Thursdays.

I've also caught a few of Frank Turner's streaming performances. Some of them have pay optional tip jars and some have been streaming for free on Instagram. Just before I wrote this I caught his most recent show which had him and his wife doing only Disney covers. I don't think I've had as bif of a grin on my face since the holidays! So much fun. I've mentioned before that I think Frank Turner is one of the best current live performers out there and his joy had translated well to the realm of LCD screens. He moves his shows between a few platforms so following his social media is probably the best way of finding out where he streams next.
