Second Veritas is known for editing and doctoring videos. I'm too lazy to look it up but there are many many examples. Where are you spending time online where you even come across such a thoroughly discredited source. That said this video is probably true.

deepfakes are still many
deepfakes are still many years away from being undetectable. if you are good at finding the little, subtle tells in a professionally photoshopped image, those same tells are present in current deepfakes.
the tech for creating someone's voice using AI is still not quite there yet...almost all deepfakes up on youtube atm make use of impressionists to do the voices.
people said alot of similar things when photoshop started getting scary good. "oh no, how will we know whats real anymore?"
somehow we got thru it, and it seems like no matter how good a photoshop job is, people who use the program professionally and at a very high level are able to find the little tells and signs an image has been altered, and its entirely possible the same will happen with deepfakes.
id also expect metadata to become a commonly discussed thing...these days most people are not even aware that within every digital photo there is metadata that includes details from the image...in some cases even the serial number of the camera and the gps location where the photo was taken. the serial number of the camera can be used to track you down if you bought the camera with a credit or debit card.
once deepfakes get really, truly good, id guess that most people will expect news media or government or whoever is presenting a video as news, to include access through a third party system to the video's metadata, which will be expanded significantly beyond the metadata available to us now, that will tell people if the video has been put through any kind of program capable of making deepfakes. this third party system for viewing metadata could be very easily secured and made to be totally impartial via blockchain.
it is possible, and will probably remain possible, to remove or edit metadata from an image or video, but im guessing videos with the metadata totally removed will be seen as totally unreliable to the point that it would be an embarrassment to even post a video with removed metadata as legit news, and a blockchain based third party app/system for viewing metadata could easily log any edits or suspicious activity .
sounds complicated, but for an end user it could be as easy as clicking a little icon in the corner of a video, a window with the metadata pops up where you will be able to see the basic info, what programs were used to edit it, and whether or not any changes have been made or may have been made to the metadata itself.

Not sure Metadata is going to be the answer as you can already extract and edit metadata down to the time code. Unless all video is going to go with encrypted Metadata that acts like DRM but that is not the case now.
At the end of the day Veritas puts out obviously edited videos and they still get mileage from that. It comes down to the old LBJ story:
