They played a local festival we were doing sound for many moons ago. Victor Wooten shows up mid afternoon, and immediately goes out into the crowd, finds the jugglers, and proceeds to juggle with them, meanwhile, Bela Fleck had them rearrange the chairs in the back stage area to a semi-circle, took the middle chair, and played banjo and chatted with everyone back there, very humble, funny, and engaging man! I actually got to play his banjo(!), and a quick dabble on one of Victors basses... nicest people on the planet.
We wanted to record the show at the soundboard, but their soundman wouldn't allow board recordings (another very nice man!), so instead, he pulled out his personal condenser mics for recording, set them up in front of the board, plugged them into our machine, and we got to record bootleg style. What was even more impressive, once he had them dialed in, he plugged his headphones into the mini-disc recorder, and started mixing for the recording!!! Still have that CD buried around here somewhere!
Think Victor's playing in Eugene in a few days, wish I could make it!
