nice

Timberwolf and later Volunteers at the Right Track Inn!! Wasn't Jeff Mattson in this band at some time?

Travis Bean and Ibanez guitars, 2 drum kits, and a grand piano for Rob. Singer and bass player shine as well. Thanks for the post!

I used to see Connecticut's Timberwolf when I could. The last time was at the Stonybrook University Spring Fest in 1985?

No, Rob was recruited to join Volunteers, when there was some lineup changes & had a tour to do still. Then they became the Zen Tricksters.

This was not an upgrade. The Volunteers could play note-for-note 1971 Grateful Dead, with a guy who nailed Pig Pen & a drummer with flair & speed akin to Omar Hakim. The kid smoked

After a perfect 1980's acoustic set.

I was to friends in High School w Tommy C of The Volunteers then the Tricksters

He was in my buddy's band in like 1979/1980 Franklins Tower was the only GD song they played

In 1982 when I was talking to him and Jennifer (the first female singer in the Volunteers) about going to Ventura from Rockville Centre they looked at me like I was from another planet. A few years later I was seeing em at The Right Track Inn playing GD songs note for note.

That was cool, thanks.

OFJ - original fake jerry.

I remember being at the Right Track Inn. I was 15.

I spent a lot of time at the Right Track Inn in Freeport and the Wetlands as a freshman in college circa '89.  Man I miss those days.

Timberwolf was the finest Dead cover band around the NYC region  in 1979 when we used to catch them at The Osprey Hotel in Manasquan, NJ back then. Good times!

Which LI place was like a basement with low corkboard ceilings and poles? I remember a Halloween show, really early 80s. (Could have been Volunteers.) So long ago.

Fake Bobby has the crazy Bobby eyes down pat.

I saw Timberwolf a handful of times at the After Dark in Nanuet, NY (just over the border from NJ and at the time there was no photo on Joisey DL's so it was always easy to borrow an older pal's paper DL and go to the show!

We also toodled down to Great Adventure Amusement Park to see Timberwolf play in the mini-amphitheater surrounded by rollercoasters.  Of course, me an my homies all dropped and had an insane time on the rides before and after.

Does Randy still play?
