I guess by the time I hung out iwith The Band - in their Winnebago Trailer on a hot summer night in 1985.
I was in engineering school, and was a heart beat away, when in the presence of Jerry, as I was always right in front of him to study every bend, pinch, strum and peer I could catch.
As well with Bill Graham. I did not drink, smoked weed openly and was the alpha dog. I found my way to Bill right away to any show he was producing. Not just in SF but here in NYC too. He love me & busted my balls. But I helped him as much as I could. It made for a fun ride for me
Now I think about I had an interview with Dan Healy 12/26/82 - for an internship & after meeting Don Pearson at the floor-mixing board he was toast & blew that off.
I had some history and points of interest for The Band & was better then TV at the time
The Band had not heard a copy of the great show they played with the Grateful Dead in Canada, that was a great show & they had not heard any feedback or a copy of the Carrier Dome show. The Band were just trying capture a reflection of how the music feels to us, that was so dear to them.
We were one on one for almost 5 hours & a group of people watched me interview them.
I have yet to accept the magnitude of this night, but I promised Garth Hudson (& Levon) that I will buy into trying to get a hold of & upgrade The Band's set from Woodstock that was in a Canadian's hands, with, no update to him on it at the time.

I tried to stand for moment & fell a bit & Richard Manuel grabbed me & hugged me and mumbled " we love you"
I knew who Rick Danko was & looked over & Rick said "Yeah man. Thanks & he bowed his head & looked down with re assertion.
The crowd that was there went "ahhhh & clapped"
I said what the fuck just happened?
Well Richard Manuel just stopped you from falling & said they all Love You +
It's "The Faces"as far as the production is concerned. That whole group had its listed that way- and the ® in The Faces Mini & own it
But the music was not nabbed for them on behalf of BMI or UMG and fell back on Blulight for now, now that you mention it.
Yesterday, Warner Brothers ® "The Weight" from Woodstock '69 back as there's & realized the Woodstock - The Band set is something I was already Green-Lighted on as an edited ® & used it in Movie I created called 69 Yasgurs Farm or something...
"Don't Do-it" by The Band is the greatest dance song of the 20th Century. Anyone that has been to a proper show by The Band know this.
Yet Martin Scorsese missed out on expressing that twice; in Woodstock & in the Last Waltz.
I have 2 teenagers in-love, dancing in front of the latrines & it works.
Had Martin had fans (dancing, hugging, cheering & laughing) in the Last Waltz, not only would the movie had been better, it would have better represented The Band for what they were all about +

Garth was shaking his head in "No Mode" it was one of our best sets ever.
Levon said "We Fucked up".
I looked Levon right in his eyes and asked him, "How did the drums sound?"
Levon said "Fucking Amazing...Snappy!"
There was a moment of silence when Levon Helm is looking you straight in the eye and saying. "We Kicked ASS AT WOODSTOCK!" +
