Backgammon Online

Forums:

Do any zoners play backgammon online? Of course, I'd rather play in 3D with real dice, but I've been playing at backgammongalaxy.com since the pandemic started. They claim the dice aren't crooked, and I have some doubts about that (mostly when I'm not winning), but the game itself is easy on the eyes, and there are some very talented players there.

Not backgammon but I have been playing on the chess.com app.

Donster -- I like that one,  but can't deal when they turn it upside down / backwards (the board).  Any tips how to correct that aspect ?

Not a problem here, Stu. I have a mechanical winch-like device which lifts and turns my chair to match the screen..... kind of a gas guzzler though.

Seriously Stu ... have not had that experience.

I played one game on the flyordie site, Nod, and didn't care for it. The board is kind of small (I magnified it up to 125% and it still looked small on my laptop) and the screen was just too busy for my eyes, but mostly I didn't like playing with the board backwards. I've never been to England, but I feel like i just had an experience similar to driving on the other side of the road. Not for me.

Here's a pic of the board from backgammongalaxy.com, with white poised to move to the left across the top, to the right across the bottom, and the blue player moving in the opposite direction. It's a fairly clean design compared to other sites I've seen.

I haven't played backgammon in so many years I'd need to re-learn it... but since when are astronaut suits a thing?

Actually ,,

I eventually figured it out,  it's just backwards and upside down.

Sort of liek  learning how to play Left - Handed,  but at first I felt quite retarded at that view.
Now it's better,  after a few tries.

Thanks again for the Link :)

Let me note that my browser is a Linux version,  so stuff might look different.

I think they just used some freebie clip-art for the avatars, LLOLLO. Mine looks like this:

I'm running Linux too, Stu. Kubuntu 20.04 on my desktop, and it's underneath the Chrome OS on my laptop, and the Android on my phone too. Open source is the way to go.

I'm more of an Acey-deucey fan but love a traditional gammon game.
