9/8cJerry Garcia Symphonic Celebration featuring Warren Haynes

Last year on August 1, the Jerry Garcia Symphonic Celebration Featuring Warren Haynes concert was held at Red Rocks in Morrison, Colorado. AXS TVwill soon premiere footage from the all-star performance as part of the channel’s annual “days between” celebration between Garcia’s birth on August 1 and death on August 9.

Held on what would have been Jerry’s 74th birthday, the Jerry Garcia Symphonic Celebration featured Warren Haynes on Garcia’s legendary custom-built Doug Irwin guitar named Tiger. Haynes and Tiger were backed by the Colorado Symphony Orchestra, and a core band made up of drummer Jeff Sipe, bassist Lincoln Schleifer and vocalists Jasmine Muhammad and Jacklyn LaBranch. The evening’s third set featured keyboardist Melvin Seals joining his former Jerry Garcia Band mate LaBranch on stage as various lineups of the core band took over. The concert concluded with Anders Beck and Dave Bruzza of Greensky Bluegrass also sitting-in.

Haynes, the orchestra and band offered such Garcia classics as “Bird Song,” “Crazy Fingers,” “Terrapin Station” and much more. The ensemble also performed “Scarlet Begonias” which can be viewed in the clip below:

Thanks for the headsup!

Good looking out! Im finding AXStv to have some decent programming. Most recently a doc on the early years of Clapton where they actually had some new content and info.  Also they had a doc on the history of Funk which was sweet. Oh and the Allman bros.     Ill' def be on the look out for the GD stuff.

Thanks for the info, I'll set my DVR to record!

Thank you for the notice. I love the channel.
