AT&T vs T-mobile

Forums:

I am breaking up with Verizon.  It was spendy as hell, but I always justified it because it has hands down the best coverage.  But in reality, 85% of the time I'm not at a festival or off on some canyon road trying to figure out if there is a gas station within 50 miles.  I do care about crappy connections in buildings and while driving though.  Anyway, Verizon pissed me off so I think it's time for a trial separation. Also first time getting "unlimited" service.  T-mobile seems like the best deal, but AT&T seems to have better coverage.  We are not mega power users although I think boy-o would like to stream shows a lot (I like having music actually on my phone).  Any input as I ponder this life changing decision?

Hey there Alias, we are in the midst of a 3 year boycott of Verizon (switched to AT&T) after they annoyed me with their greed. We will be moving back to Reno by the end of the month and I will be working in a lot more remote areas than the past year or so so I think we may switch back, the reception is key for me. I must admit I like the excuse of having no service so I don't have to respond to emails, calls, or texts so maybe we'll keep it.  AT&T has been fine overall, but so was Verizon for 13+ years. We have kept our limited data (includes rollover) plus hot spot plan so I cannot speak to their unlimited service, but if we stay we will probably get it as I believe it includes 10gb of hotspot which I also need for motel work in remote areas (why is we kept out original limited plan). I'm sure AT&T will have no problem screwing anyone over though if the chance arises.

I have zero issues with the dollar loving  conglomerate corporate whore that let my wife go so she would not get full retirement benefits only four months short of her twenty nine year and eight months occupation at at&t.

The cell phone service fits our needs.

Cricket. Uses at&t networks for half the at&t cost.

Ouch jazfish. That sucks. No live for t-mobile out there? Price is right for sure. ATGD, did you notice much coverage difference when you went to AT&T? Also, glad to hear of your return to the area. Hangtown? Great lineup, we are back in the meadow this year.

Hi guys

A little birdie told me Achilles Wheel will be playing Hangtown on the 26th  evening show

AT&T had less coverage where you guys would be tromping or boating in the foothills south of Placerville and north of Mariposa but the difference as you headed uphill was usually just a few miles at most. I figure it's the same north of Placerville, I haven't regretted leaving Verizon for the most part, primarily at certain times when working if I have to waste time to drive a few miles on dirt roads to get in touch with someone.

I think we are planning on going to Hangtown for at least Sat-Sun, maybe more depending on our work schedules. We would be in the meadow again as well. I'm not too pleased they removed the outer mid size stage and will have all music inside the gate but I guess they were losing too much alcohol money. The lineup looks real fun, more so than last year to me, and the zoner contingent obviously can't be beat. Looking forward to seeing you guys again.

Hi Bart,

We ended up finding a place pretty quick in Reno this week so we drove back south on weds, missing that Achilles Wheel show at the Mobil at the intersection of Hwys 395 and 120. Oh well, it would have been nice.

T-Mobile > ATT > Verizon

Verizon will be switching off CDMA and going to ultra fast LTE in the future fyi, which means new phones to get LTE I believe.

Been with T-Mobile for a few years after leaving ATT with a grandfathered unlimited for original iPhone.

Not a fan of ATT nor Verizon as far as their leadership and business practices.

CEO of ATT, Randall, said at a digital conference a while back, that it keeps awake at night thinking of all the unlimited data they could have charged for when mobile plans first came out with the iPhone. Like anyone would have paid for tiered plans at the time. lol

I sent a glass of milk to his Secretary with a note to put it on his desk, and then spill it, so he'd have something to cry over.

At&t forced dish tv on us in order to get unlimited data plan.

It's *kinda* worth it

I have had wireless business plan with Sprint since 1997 (20 years now) and love it.

My cell phone number has Jerry Garcia's birthday & my name spelled out.

I have Virgin Mobile. $20 android phone $30/month.   Beats the pants off Verizon.  They permanently laid me and a bunch of fine workers off in 2009. So, no love for them.

Anyway,

Virgin mobile has a deal right now; Buy an IPhone for 280-320$ and get a year of service for $1.   the math makes that very appealling.....

I also have the Virgin Mobile android phone for $30 a month. I am not a heavy phone user so it works for me, never had a problem with finding a signal.

I think our internet is ATT, I didn't even think about that.  And fuck Sprint, one of my homies switched and can't use her phone half the time even though she's San Rafael.  Says coverage is shit.

I too am not happy about the move of stages for hangtown, mainly because I liked the casual vibe at the outter stage.  Plus, that means the smaller stage will be packed because only one band can play at a time.  It'll be fine though I'm sure.  Hope you guys can make it. Big year lineup wise.
