Asbury Lanes Opening Event

Forums:

Well, the Lanes has reopened and reports from the few shows so far are very positive. Still, I was surprised that there wasn't some sort of Grand Opening Event.

There is now!

June 18th

Portugal The Man

Tangiers Blues Band w/Bruce Springsteen

At present the only way in is via an Asbury Park resident lottery and another lottery to win tickets and a hotel stay at The Asbury Hotel across the street. Not sure if there will be a regular sale of tickets but if there is, I imagine they will sell out in seconds.

Not a bad show for a 450 capacity venue.

Forgot about the ice-breaker shows at the 'new' place.  There was a free show with some local guys,  and I meant to ride out to the Coast  to take a look.

OOOoops,  spaced it.  Probably check out one of the RRE shows 6/29-30.

Otherwise the 'Jams On The Sand'  series has some good acts and extremely reasonable ticket prices.

Enjoyed a handful of those last Summer.

Should definitely be a great summer in Asbury Park. Between the Jams on the Sand, the newly reopened Asbury Lanes & of course the Stone Pony Summer Stage, there's just a ton of great music to be enjoyed!

Extremely reasonable, as in free.

The icing on the cake will be the inaugural Sea Hear Now Festival in September.

One nice attraction (for Dog people) is that Asbury outdoor events are Dog-Friendly.

You can't bring in Dogs to 'Jams On The Sand'  but surrounding areas are alright.

Hüsky has been to AP many times,  including the legal Dog Beach.

One problem is that he's scared of going in the Ocean,  so we're working that out.

Funny Stu, of all the dogs I've had in my life, they all loved water, but couldn't stand the ocean. The only exception was my black Lab who I couldn't keep out when I'd take her to the beach.

I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for that thanks. I hadn't heard about it. Looks like it should be great.

Bowling and live music is still a thing?

It is Funny,  as the Hound likes lakes,  streams,  rivers,   The Bay,  large Puddles,  almost any body of Water.

But the Atlantic Ocean flips H.I.M. out.  I said "Look at all those Labradors having sooo much Fun in the Waves,  with the tennis ball !!"  Tried dragging H.I.M.  in there,  and he escaped his leash / collar running down the Beach to the "No  Dogs Allowed"  zone.

Try catching a loose sled dawg on an open beach.  Not easy.

My guess is that he can smell the Sharks,  or the 'Axxe' tanning spray all the Guidos use.

My favorite venue in Asbury is The Saint. Great atmosphere, they stamp your hand and you can come and go all night.

I love the Saint. I've seen some great shows there including Derek Trucks & Tony Levin (different nights). They tend to oversell the bigger shows, but that's kind of par for the course in Asbury.
