Mad Dogs and all that

My sister had a cocker spaniel that humped air. I did not like that dog for obvious reasons till my one buddy pointed out the fact , That's why they call them ' Cockers'.

Just vaguely heard about an upcoming benefit in Louisville KY featuring My Morning Jacket covering Tom Petty songs (benefit for Florida hurricane relief?).  That's @ least Intriguing, even tho I'm not a Petty fan and am still only somewhat Lukewarm towards MMJ (but still trying) . . .

There's probably already a thread about this somewhere on the Zone but this is my 1st visit in many many weeks . . .

IMO, one of the best bands when they did covers was The Ramones.

Journey To The Center Of The Mind

Chinese Rock

Surfin' Bird

The Crusher

The Led Zeppelin had a certain way of taking old blues numbers and making them their own.

Good call, Jazfish. I absolutely adore Leon and Joe's cover of Girl from the North Country on Mad Dogs. So damn good!

My Morning Jacket can handle a cover really well.

This is a real good one...

Warren for sure.  Ever hear him do "Wasted Time"?

Humble Pie's Thirty Days in the Hole is second to none. Yet I always dig Mule's version with the I Don't Need No Doctor tease ending. They just kill it . Good chit.

Mark and Bart, there are some others from Hangtown lower on the page of the link Mark posted - Lukas with Leftover Salmon, and without. Pretty nice, thanks for the link, Mark.

Ryan Adams is almost too good at covering other people's music.

Very true.

Forgot to add Galactic to the list. They can basically cover any genre at the drop of the hat and make it sound like they have rehearsed the song for years.

Thought that this was R.E.M. when I heard it over the P.A. at Target or whatever:

X doesn't do a lot of covers, but they shred the ones they do...

I feel like TFB could pull off some Kiss with Ross James singing.

"God of Thunder" maybe?
