I was at that St. Paul show in 82 it was mighty fine nice Scarlet - Fire and post drums was smoking. My first summer tour not on the East Coast was one of 2 indoor shows on the tour. The other was The Kiel Auditorium in St. Louis.
The double-time ending was what made their version truly epic. For whatever reason, they stopped doing that sometime in 1980/81.
I never heard a reason why they stopped doing it, but more's the pity, because it was a great groove.
Watch the version I posted for the perfect example of how good that could be, and how it so clearly shows that the Grateful Dead were absolutely a ROCK 'N ROLL band.

i liked more when it lead
i liked more when it lead into Good Lovin'. wasn't thrilled when it closed the set.
also thought it would have segued nicely into Roll Over Beethoven.
