Arguably you sold your country out

Forums:

After reviewing some of the allegations against Flynn, including that he worked to advance the interests of the Turkish government in the United States during the 2016 presidential campaign, the judge pointed to an American flag behind him in the courtroom and said heatedly, “Arguably, that undermines everything this flag over here stands for. Arguably you sold your country out.

“The court’s going to consider that,” the judge said. “I cannot assure you, if you proceed today, you will not receive a sentence of incarceration.”

Take a few more months to think about it.

Some dude was standing outside the courthouse as Flynn did the perp walk shouting "Lock Him UP!"

“The prospect remains that an overzealous prosecutor or investigator — aware that a person has committed some suspicious acts, but unable to make a criminal case — will create a crime by surprising the suspect, asking about those acts, and receiving a false denial.”

Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, in a concurring opinion in the case of Brogan v. United States.

"Arguably, that undermines everything that this flag over here stands for," Sullivan said, gesturing toward the American flag in the courtroom, according to reporters who were present. "Arguably, you sold your country out."

All were terribly damaging accusations, especially coming from a federal judge sitting in court. And all were false, given that Flynn did not commit treason, did not sell out the United States, and did not serve as an unregistered foreign agent in the White House. There's a reason Trump-Russia special counsel Robert Mueller did not charge Flynn with those crimes, and the reason is he did not commit them.

How do you know that?

Flynn is a traitor. Anyone who tries to spin this differently has their head up their ass and probably gets all of their news from the Washington Examiner.

Ol' Bag O'Shit continues to prove that he doesn't give a damn about the USA.

Ol' Bag O'Shit continues to prove that he doesn't give a damn about the USA<<<

I believe he does, but is extremely misguided; to say the least.

Regardless, the point in time may arrive where he'll have to confront his own internal beliefs and decide if he wants to go along with draconian measures implemented by Trump to retain power in the light of overwhelming incriminating evidence of high crimes and misdemeanors; or, if enough in Congress have grown a spine in order to hold Trump accountable, whether or not he'll do whatever it takes to prevent the "silent coup" from being carried out to remove him from power.

What happens to all the "Thoms" out there who still remain "all talk", yet are witness to those who are motivated and act upon their internal hate with violence?  Do the Thom's out there route for them and the overthrow of the Rule of Law; or, do they then realize the "connection" of how their pecking away at the keyboard to support a false narrative is providing material support for violence upon the innocent?

Or maybe it's more of a passive routing for violence that's tethered to some obscure grand lost cause?  ... comforted by their belief in the notion of there being "fault on both sides".

Zero Hedge’s content has been classified as “alt-right” and has been criticized for presenting conspiracy theories.

In review, Zero Hedge publishes pro-right wing/Trump articles such as Pat Buchanan: “Trump Calls Off Cold War II.” As well as fake news stories regarding liberals: Anti-Trump Protesters Bused Into Austin, Chicago.

Editorial content is written under the pseudonym Tyler Durden and usually focuses on conspiracies related to economic collapse. Zero Hedge sources to factually mixed think tanks such as the The Mises Institute, which promotes Austrian (Anarcho-Capitalism) economics.

A factual search reveals a terrible track record with IFCN fact checkers. There are too many failed checks to list here.

Overall, we rate Zero Hedge an extreme right biased conspiracy website.

The key point here is that a Judge known for calling out prosecutorial misconduct. Demanded to read the un-redacted interviews with Flynn. After reading them he was ready to throw out the prosecutors suggestion that Flynn get no jail time and throw him in jail.

This was not how Flynn’s supporters or Trump thought Tuesday’s sentencing hearing would unfold. They had pinned their hopes on Sullivan, an independent-minded jurist with a history of ferreting out prosecutorial misconduct, as the one who would reveal overreach by special counsel Robert S. Mueller III and the FBI. Some Flynn allies even speculated the judge might toss out Flynn’s guilty plea and clear his name.

Instead, the 71-year-old veteran jurist used his platform to puncture conspiracy theories that paint Flynn as a victim of deep-state persecution. And he reminded the country of a few simple creeds commonly held in courthouses but increasingly dismissed by the president’s allies: Lying to the FBI is against the law. Breaking the law is bad. People who work in the White House are supposed to be held to a higher standard.

While it might puncture conspiracy theories from the perspective of those who employ reason as the basis of their decision making process, the problem rests with convincing those who might cling to said conspiracies at this stage of the game who are more likely to simply expand their conspiracy theory to accommodate this new development to support their entrenched position.  So, the judge will somehow be deemed to be "in on it", or is not "one of us".  In general terms, moving the goal posts is a fundamental attribute of those who wholeheartedly buy into a conspiracy theory.

I am of three minds on this. Fuck a judge who blows up a plea agreement. Fuck Flynn for so many reasons. Finally, fuck snitches, you deserve what you get, bitch.

If you can hold your nose and get past the misogyny, rascist, anti-semetic, homophobic commenters - there is sometimes some interesting alternate viewpoints that appear at that site.  I do not think that many people who support Trump like the guy but support less government, people paying their way, and actually do care about people, environment, violence and getting the U.S. out of other countries business and keeping an eye on money/dc.

Unfortunately, it's a few more clicks than it once was to obtain information about things as sites/entities like 'google' news and other  'news' organizations (AP, UPI) downsizing. are so rampant with Trump hate - especially after the love affair the press had with Obama - that it just seems like one huge shouting match.

>>>>>many people who support Trump.....actually do care about people, environment...

Nope.

Seriously, wtf are you on about weir? People who voted for Trump care about the environment?

1) No, I can't hold my nose to get past the misogyny, rascism, anti-semitism or homophobia. Why would you want to learn how to hold your nose to get past that? I breathe it in, deeply, and it stinks. And just like I refuse to walk through a septic tank to get to a delicious restaurant, I see no need to wade through peoples' hatred in order to get to their opinions. The hatred tells me everything I need to know about them.

2) How is Trump less government? The US government is HUUUUUUGE. Was before he got there, still is. Nothing's changed.

3) People paying their way? Like the subsidized agriculture and petroleum industries? Like welfare ranchers like those Bundy fuckers out in Oregon? Or anybody else raping BLM land at a fraction of a true cost and who only keep their business alive by sucking off the government tit?

4) People? Like poor, black, Jewish, LGBTQ and Muslim people?

5) Environment? Jesus, dude, really?

6) Violence? You mean the president who hasn't once taken a clear stance against gun violence after any of the millions of shootings in the past year?

7) Getting the US out of others' business? Man, you are so lost and have no clue how corporations work or how much the Trump administration actually supports them....

Really. Keep reading ZeroHedge. Sounds like it's right up your alley, but please, when participating in a conversation with adults, it's always recommendable to cite sources that actually have some degree of validity and veracity. Right, left, whatever.

I'm in finance and used to visit Zerohedge. Not only are virtually all the posts going on about some sort of world-wide, Soros- Jewish-Banker conspiracy, but the commenters, if they are in fact real people, are the most insane group of bat-shit, racist looneys. I cant' believe this is actually a respected site by anyone with half a brain.

> Fuck a judge who blows up a plea agreement

Sentencing is the purview of the judge, not the prosecution who's role stops at making a recommendation. Flynn belongs in jail, and he hope they "lock him up" for a few years.

Seriously, wtf are you on about weir? People who voted for Trump care about the environment?

Some people who are closer to Bernie's way of thinking refuse(d) to support the democratic official parties' nominee.

Won't vote for Clinton,  but will vote for the guy championing coal and espousing racist populism?

Those environmentally conscious Trump voters must have been stoked by the Tillerson , Zinke, and Pruitt appointments.

Won't vote for Clinton,  but will vote for the guy championing coal and espousing racist populism?

I am sick of the Clintons, Bushes, Obama and Trump. They are all politicians whistling appealing tunes to their audiences. I am much more concerned about fracking, oil pipelines, water, public land being mined/stripped, and nuclear energy than I am about the current influence of coal on the environment in this country.

Coal has killed more people than nuclear energy.

>I am sick of the Clintons, Bushes, Obama and Trump. They are all politicians whistling appealing tunes to their audiences. I am much more concerned about fracking, oil pipelines, water, public land being mined/stripped<

Trump also campaigned on rolling back Obama era environmental regulations, leaving the Paris Climate Accord, greenlighting the keystone pipeline, and opening up federal lands for mining and energy exploration.

So either you weren't paying attention,  you are being disingenuous, or you are a fool.

I am paying attention, being sincere, and sick of name calling.  If you would like to have a civil discourse on environmental issues - that'd be fine with me.  I don't know everything and do like learning stuff.

Trump was unambiguous about where he stood regarding environmental issues. I'm not sure how folks genuinely concerned about the environment could have misunderstood his position.

How do you feel about the recent decisions open up federal lands for energy and mining exploration?

So Bernie fanboys became so disenfranchised by something they began getting their news from places like zerohedge?

I think bryen may have posted he's a lifelong democrat as well.

interesting playbook. good luck with that.

So Bernie fanboys

Name calling is not conducive to this discussion.  Thank yo for the links.  I will comment on Phil Lesh and the joy that he has bring and continues to bring.  One site that I enjoy is nakedcapitalism.org.
