4-terabyte WD usb hard drive (about this size of an iphone), $109 at Amazon

4 terabytes probably holds 3000 shows in WAV format.

Going through my Krautrock phase and it's kind of awesome, not sure why it took me so long.  Picked up NEU! and NEU! 75 on new vinyl recently.

Track from NEU!  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zndpi8tNZyQ

Listening to lots of Big Bill Broonzy too, incredible, innovative & multidimensional player. few songs of him playing in a nightclub in Paris in 56', aired on British tv..apparently Clapton saw it when he was 11 or 12, said he'd never been exposed to anything like this at that point & that it was majorly influential. Cap '71

https://archive.org/details/gd1971-02-23.sbd.miller.110353.flac16/gd71-0...

Today's date.  Look at that set list.  That would make up TWO 90s shows, give or take a Samba.

I'm rediscovering a few Tony Conrad CDs.  Generally droning bowed strings, layered to bring harmonic convergence and dissonance.  When one is in the right mind, it's a fascinating experience; otherwise, it can sound like scratching a chalk board.  Today and last night, they were perfect for my car rides:

Tony Conrad with Faust - Outside the Dream Syndicate (1971) < Long tracks.  #1 a bit plodding, #2 the most rhythmically interesting, #3 is 31 mins and somewhere in-between.

Tony Conrad - Slapping Pythagoras (1995) < No drums, but intense buzzing of different stringed instruments, sometimes sounding like a squealing harmonica (14 mins into track one);  Track two sounds like addition of woodwinds.  As noted, intense at times but worth a listen.

Tony Conrad with Faust - Outside the Dream Syndicate Alive (2005 release) <Live recording from 1995.  Raw and less layered.

Cornershop - Handcream for a Generation (2002) < Kinda meh reaction from my ears, with the exception of the 14+minute track Spectral Mornings (reminds me of a Stone Roses jam).

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZoceBpniPw8

Gal Costa - JD Mix (1967-1982) < Good stuff!

Crosby, Stills, Nash, & Young - So Far (1974 comp) < Still one of my favorite sing-along albums.

Crystal Method - Community Service (2002) < Not great, but not bad electronic music for the car.

Cure - Boys Don't Cry (1980)

Holgar Czukay - La Luna (2000) < Mellow tape looping lightly mechanical/industrial 47 minute tune at what feels like 60 bpm.  Welcome addition to driving in traffic, from Can's bass player.

Dire Straits - Dire Straits (1978)

Dissidenten -  Sahara Electric (1985) < Moroccan music presented with a mild Euro-electronic touch.

Had to backtrack to some skipped discs:

Death By Chocolate - Death By Chocolate (2001) < Sure, it's campy '60's retro-future, swinging London-esque, but still enjoyable.

Sandy Denny - Mo More Sad Refrains (2000 comp) < Tear-inducing beauty.

Deuter - Nada Himalaya (1998) < Gorgeous droning Tibetan bowls and bells.

Rolling StonesBlue & Lonesome (2016)

The Deviants - PTOOFF!  (1967)

Os Diagonais - Os Diagonais (Cada Um Na Sua)  (1971) < This appears to be a forgotten recording of Brazillian horn-laden "soul."  Kinda meh to my ears, so it's not staying in my collection.

Bo Diddley - Bo Diddley/Go Bo Diddley (1957/1959) < Now THIS is the shit!  laugh

Dr. John - The Very Best of Dr. John (1995 rhino comp)

These don't count, JohhnyD. We're in March now.

I just got as gift/credit David Bromberg's 2 CD combination re-master "Wanted Dead Or Alive" (1974) / "Midnight On The Water" (1975)

Can't wait to play it later. (May have to get "How Late Do Yo Play"  someday)

^ That's a sweet gift.  2 great albums. It's cool to hear his work with Jerry, Bill, Phil & Keith on the Dead or Alive album.

Brian Eno - Taking Tiger Mountain (By Strategy) (1974) < Was tripping on some of the tunes during my post-show drive home last night.  smiley

Leon Russell and the Shelter People, A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall

Johnny D, i mentioned in the king crimson thread that I saw David Byrne in 2008 when he toured to promote the album of songs he wrote with Brian Eno. I was hopin Eno would tour with him but no such luck & to this day I still haven't seen him live. Hope to change that soon

^Nice, Chuck.  Well, too bad about the "not touring with" thing.  I'm doing the alphabetical CD-r thing, so I've been hanging with Eno all weekend, into today.  I would love to see Eno live for the first time as well (fingers crossed).

Brian Eno - Another Green World (1975) < Absolutely gorgeous marriage of Brit-Pop (slightly off-kilter/mildly psychedelic) & Krautrock (Neu!, Custer, Harmonia come to mind).  Was stuck in grid-locked traffic and couldn't care less...

Harold Budd/Brian Eno - Ambient 2: The Plateaux of Mirror (1980) < Ahhhhh...

Brian Eno - Ambiant 4: On Land (1982) < Atmospheric, with wind-chime-like harmonics (guitar strings it sounds like).  Feeling pretty mellow now.

I'm just starting:

Harold Budd/Brian Eno - The Pearl (1984)

Brian Eno - Another Day on Earth (2005) < A worthy listen, but not quite as good as his earlier stuff.

Enter the Haggis - Soap Box Heroes (2006) < Kind of adult alternative, which should be a turn-off, but the addition of bagpipes and an eclectic mix of gaelic rock and heavy guitar makes it interesting and engaging.

Everlast - Whitey Ford Sings the Blues (1998) < Still like the acoustic blues-type tunes more than the rap ones.

The Everly Brothers - All-time Original Hits (1999 rhino comp) < One of my Dad's favorite acts.  Mine too!

Los Fabulosos Cadillacs - Vasos Vacios (1993 comp)  < Fun Argentinian ska-punk party band with a Latin bent.  Kind of reminds me of Ozomatli without the rap and a bit more Clash thrown into a Brazilian carnivale parade.  Did I say fun?
