Are you going to the show?

Forums:

Just wondering who here plans on going to public gatherings before there is a vaccine?

Unlikely

Many of the shows I have tickets for (RATM, Stones, Roger Waters) have been postponed with the new dates TBD.   However, some shows have not been canceled or postponed including:

Hall & Oates (June 3)

Tanya Tucker (June 10)

Phish (July 17-19)

Primus (July 25)

Guns n Roses (Aug 2)

Twiddle (Aug 19 - rescheduled from March)

Cake (Oct 3 - rescheduled from March)

King Gizzard (Oct 19 - rescheduled from April)

I am not holding my breath for the June dates, but plan on going to any and all that remain scheduled.   For stadium shows, I usually like to go up into the rafters where I have room to dance and freek and will be above the spittle of the crowds below.

depends how long it takes...this year, probably not...going into next year or more then fuck it

I'm waiting until they have universal testing and contact tracing fully operational.  I wouldn't be surprised if many of us are asymptomatic carriers and are already developing antibodies to the virus and building up immunity.  Once they have that figured out and have isolated the sick and most vulnerable,  then I think we'll all have a clearer picture what our personal risks are.  The search for a vaccine has to be the holy grail in the research and pharmaceutical fields right now,  so I have confidence that something effective will be developed sooner than the 18 months originally projected.

Mostly I’m with daylight, Small, local, outdoor show close to home might get me this summer. Not traveling for music, going to indoor venues, nothing like that.

I'm jumping on a plane in 11 days. Denver to PHX direct. Plane will be well under half full. Will wear mask, gloves and possibly vodka.

I will wait till the second wave is over or satisfying testing logistics are completed.

i'm going to txr to jam in with sweaty pushy people

In California I don't think we'll be having the option for a long time, but I am on the higher end of susceptibility with some lung issues and whatnot, so I will be very cautious when the doors open again.

And yeah Turtle, even though I love the place, the Grate Room is probably the last place I'll want to go back into.

It's funny, I've missed a lot of really good shows in the past few weeks, but it's the sporting events I'm missing more, and looking forward to getting back to more than shows.

Something must be wrong with me.

"Save your money don't go to the show!"

A canceled March show we had tix for has not been rescheduled.  Another March show I was considering has been rescheduled for 6/28, but I expect that to get bagged as well.

A July Tuna show I expected to be canceled by 4/15 is still "on" (but I'm doubtful).

Day-to-day, I'm seeing more re-skeds being pushed into 2021.

"Save your money  Life don't go to the show!"...

Not holding any tickets, but I'm in the car as soon as an appealing TXR show gets announced w/ appropriate distancing measures. Oregon riders / drivers welcome as long as I can scoop you up along I-5, LOL.    I know, I know, this will take awhile. Just dreaming.

JRAD summer dates are still in play, but surely those will get postponed too.

As for flying to a show, that'll depend on other factors in play.

Maybe there'll be a zoner jam announcement....I imagine those events would attract fewer than 100 people.... the future of music events?

No shows to go to, all canceled.

Not doing chumps 4th of July contract cv-19 mass extinction extravaganza.

My next still not canceled event is RockyGrass in Lyons, CO July 24 to 26.  Planet Bluegrass has canceled the Telluride Bluegrass Festival in June but has not yet pulled the plug on RockyGrass.

I have an extra on-site camping pass, which use to be like gold but is now more like oil.

Live Nation President Prepared For No Concerts And Music Festivals For The Next 6-18 Months

I often wonder how the folks that attended the ABB reunion concert MSG NYC made out. The show was literally the last public event of any kind to take place in the city before the shutdown. They sure played like it might be their last.

High Sierra music festival still selling tickets and going on as of this post. 4th of July weekend. Like ten weeks away.

Optimistic of them? Misleading? I don’t want to outright call it irresponsible, but it seems obtuse and misplaced.

>>>I often wonder how the folks that attended the ABB reunion concert MSG NYC made out<<<

Yikes. Didn't I hear that a soccer match in Italy is thought to be the thing that blew it up there? It sure blew up in New York.

Aren't there some folks from here who went to that ABB show? Have we heard from them?

so your sayin my Phil Lesh and Friends show on June 14 at the beach park is not gonna happen!?

fuckinNewsom!  I am moving..

ABB was March 10th I'm sure there are a ton of sick people from that.

My wife knows 5 people who got Covid by going to a professional conference in NYC the second week of February. I was in NYC for four days the third week of Feb and had a sore throat after. I'm hoping that was my mild case sure would be nice to know.

Here is an article that is pointing to a spike in new cases from the Wisconsin vote.

So is String Summit in Oregon, mid-July.... Surprised about that one, especially given our Governor's strict protocols.

Count Basie Theater in New Jersey  is still selling tickets for Lyle Lovett and John Hiatt on May 12

Here is NWSS' official statement:

They don't plan on canceling but are keeping a close eye on things. If the ban on mass gatherings is extended to mid-July, they won't have much choice.

Its the same weekend as Phish at the Gorge and I opted to go with Phish this year.   The Phish shows are still on for now too.

Tickets I have for summer 2020

1)The Who-5-2 Pepsi Center-$20 concert day buy last may for show in september that was postponed and will obviously get postponed again.

2)Jrad 6-5 Red Rocks

3)Brit Floyd-6-11 Red Rocks

4)Primus- 7-14 Mission Ballroom

5)TTB-8-1 Red Rocks

6)Black Crowes 8-31 Red Rocks

shows I have tickets for that I expect to go as planned.

Luckily for me I did not buy tickets for everything I wanted to go to. Using the wait until closer to showtime was good for me,except for The Who.

the gathering of the juggalos is canceled.

whoop whoop.

Old Grey Whistle Test

Jesus cried, wept and died
I guess he went up to heaven
I've been downtown such a long, long time
I'll never make it home by seven
Won't you come and take me home
I've been too long at the fair
And Lord, I just can't stand it anymore

Well I went down to Jason's
Walked 'til my feet got sore
But I never knew what laughin' was
'Til you walked out the door
Won't you come and take me home
I've been too long at the fair
And Lord, I just can't stand it anymore

You can give my soul to Abraham
Give my soul to Saul
Give my bones to Canada
My teeth, they don't hurt at all

I don't know who made the highway
I guess that's just my pride
But I have heard the Prince of Darkness
On his charger ride

The silver blade is gleamin'
The scales are in his hands
I swear that night is fallin'
Don't you lose another man
Won't you come and take me home
I've been too long at the fair
And Lord, I just can't stand it anymore

 >>>>>Oregon riders / drivers welcome as long as I can scoop you up along I-5, LOL.

Let me know.

Jrad red rocks. I hope it's canceled.

There's a local Soulfest I'm interested in but I don't know...early June.

The bigger fests in Chicago have been cancelled.  Blues Festival and Gospel Fest which I like to hit.

I don't expect there to be any concerts for the remainder of the year.

I ordered "Early Bird" Peach Fest tixx.  No cancellation yet (July 4 Weekend).  However I don't actually have my tickets.
Clever of them to hold out before incurring Printing / Laminating expen$es.

Local festival I always enjoyis canceled.

in the fall. Maybe up to 150 peeps

thats my plan

Unfortunately the best case estimation of having live performances I am hearing from industry sources is another 9 months. More realistically is 12 - 18 months.

I think that will be the case in the New York metropolitan area, Tony, but I don't see that being the case in the rest of the country.

There was a pretty good article in yesterday's New York Times Op/Ed section by Brett Stephens, alluding to this:

https://www.nytimes.com/2020/04/24/opinion/coronavirus-lockdown.html

we've got tickets to american utopia in october

dunno how i feel about it

I don't get the argument that new york is different. Bret Stephens is a political opinion writer who probably knows less about science or public health than the average Zoner.

if it's not safe to have 10K fans in an arena for a show or game in NYC, I don't see how it's safe to have 10K fans in an arena in Atlanta or Orlando or Charlotte even if local political officials would allow it there.

Hypothetically, if there is universal testing and quarantining of the sick and their known contacts, the risk factor for exposure should be low enough in areas that aren't overwhelmed with cases, that any subsequent transmissions could be identified, quarantined and traced.  I believe that's the argument.  Whether or not that will happen is questionable.

The New York City metropolitan area, and the Northeast megalopolis in general, certainly has a different set of living conditions than most of the rest of the country.  The drastically higher number of positive cases and deaths demonstrate this.  Large gatherings of more than 50 people will undoubtedly be restricted until testing and tracing ability is widespread, but if that happens, it's not unreasonable to see some parts of the country reopening sooner than others, although it may involve even tighter travel restrictions.

I'm not interested in the politicization of this issue, just the development of effective strategies to allow people to live and work without endangering themselves and each other.

I'm jumping on a plane in 11 days. Denver to PHX direct. Plane will be well under half full<<<

I've heard rumors about flights being cancelled / consolidated at the last minute.  Makes sense to me, why would airlines change course when they most need to stick close to their margins?

Safe wishes regardless.

I will not be going to any shows until reliable testing exists or better yet, a vaccine.  Guess my show days are over.

2020 IS Toast ..

Joe Russo at Red Rocks got bumped by a year.

I'm not going to be any younger.

https://www.redrocksonline.com/concerts-events/covid19

A year. Do you have the option of a refund?

. None offered yet. I'll have to look into it.

I think that will be the case in the New York metropolitan area, Tony, but I don't see that being the case in the rest of the country.

Until there is solid testing AND a vaccine that is effective, it doesn't matter where in the country you may be. Excluding performers that are strictly performing in a small, small region only, performers need to tour to be economically viable. With a hodgepodge of regulations in different states, touring becomes a logistical nightmare. Talk in the industry seems to be settling the testing and vaccine issues while adding health checks (temp and testing for the virus if and when results can be had in minutes) before entering a venue. There also needs to be some liabiity waiver for the venue, promoters and performers so they all don't get sued for negligence if someone comes down with the virus.

Those things are far off in the future and everyone will have to wait until the above comes to fruition.

Also remember that smaller shows actually have people closer to each other than larger shows. Much LESS social distancing.

Most of the industry, myself included, hope those things can come together but nobody is realistically thinking on any time line less than a year.

Well, one good thing: By not traveling to shows, I'm stashing away $$ to be ready to fly for a non-music trip or for a music trip next year!  Patience pays.
