Before the digital age essentially made the vault accessible in it's entirety ... a GD radio beg-o-thon was a great way to be exposed to new or rare recordings ... which one could easily "tape" and add to one's collection. Likewise, making a contribution seemed like a fair / equitable way to keep the station / vibe going ... and it really didn't seem all that much like a fund raising effort, but something to get excited about. Nowadays, does it still have the same "allure" to you as in years past?

No, and our local public
No, and our local public station (one of two) has opted for a thon-less system for fund-raising.
