AR-15's

Forums:

Whats everyones thoughts? I mean I get the 'well regulated militia' thing.... and the intent to defend one's self from a fascist government... but it seems like we're already past that point.

The US government has a WELL, WELL regulated militia that would blow the fuck out of even the strongest stronghold of gun nuts in the hills of Montana... SO do we admit defeat, and unilateral rule under the US government, fascist or not?

And finally ban the AR 15 and comparable assault rifles? Maybe there can be some sort of negotiations, like the US military destroys one Nuke for every 500 assault rifles we turn in.

Many handguns can fire as fast as an ar15. so sure, go ahead and ban them

Solid, accurate rifle:

AR-15s_0.JPG

They require more cleaning and care than an AK-47 (which you can drop in the mud, piss on, and will still work fine), but for prepping, the AR-15 is a good choice for home defense and coyote control, especially at long range.   It also takes the standard NATO .223 round, which can come in handy if foraging for ammo.

Ken,

I appreciate that you're a gun owner and that you have a sound, legal mind.

AR-15's are more accurate than AK-47s as well, I believe.

I'm certainly no expert, but it seems a little bulky for home defense and/or close quarter combat.

Can one affix a bayonet to the end?

>>>AR-15's are more accurate than AK-47s

That's right:

>>>>>little bulky for home defense and/or close quarter combat.

The idea is not to let marauders get that close and keep them held off at a distance.   Once they get in to your compound, a shotgun may be the way to go, but the shorter barrel AR-15 versions could be do the trick too.

I don't see many AR-15s with bayonet lugs, but I am sure you can get one.  My brother's AK-47 has a spike bayonet fixed to it.   The best bayonet rifle I had was an old Arisaka Type 99 WWII Japanese service rifle.  Strap on the bayonet and that thing as a perfectly balanced hand to hand weapon.

>> Accuracy (16″ barrel)8-12 MOA

I don't know about all makes of AKs, but it's more like 2 MAO with Saiga converted Izhmash Factory AKs.

^^but for prepping, the AR-15 is a good choice for home defense

An AR for home defense ? No bueno, bullets go through walls, etc.

A shotgun is all you need. Ex Vice President Joe Biden was 100% right.

AR-15 ? Mass human killing devices ? Do you really have to ask ?  What are you fucking stupid ? Retarded ? Do you not see what's going on ?

They are death machines that should be outlawed.

If your a hunter of anything other than people on a large scale, and feel you need one,  youre a terrible fucking  hunter and don't deserve a license to hunt.

If you're even of the mindset that it's perfectly fine to own one, you are just plain insecure fucked, and cannot be reasoned with.

Dont give me any of your 2nd Ammendment bullshit.  The 1st Ammendment should have been the need to modify the constitution generation after generation . That one time bill of rights was great in its day, but the founders should have had more foresight.

Madison did not intend for everybody to own devices of mass killing. If so he would have ok'd fucking 12 pounder Howitzers , the baddest gun of the day.

AR-15 supporter ?  For the general public ?  You are fucked sir.

americans can't handle guns, sorry to the majority that can. the few have ruined for the rest. lol foraging for ammo.

Troll thread

doublepost

AR-15s are not assault rifles. They can be modified with extras to make them into assault rifles, as can many other semi-autos. The reason we see AR-15s a lot is they are very popular. They are accurate, reliable, and readily available. Have been around for decades. AR stands for Armalite Rifle, the manufacturer. I'd support a cap on numbers manufactured and sold of all guns.

If the goal is to reduce gun violence, the only way to do accomplish this to reduce access to ALL guns.
There is a clearly a direct correlation between gun ownership and gun violence.

"If you want to reduce smoking, you make it harder and more expensive to smoke. Nobody seems to argue with that logic. At a very basic level, I am not sure why this this would be any different. We know we can’t stop every wacko from harming others, we just want to reduce the percentage of wackos that have guns!"

Because correlation isn't causation? Smoking CAUSES health damage. Gun ownership doesn't directly cause violence.

You might as well say there is a correlation between schools and school shootings, so we should get rid of schools.

Are you arguing that there is no correlation between gun ownership and gun violence or do you just not like the smoking analogy?

>> Are you arguing that there is no correlation between gun ownership and gun violence

Of course not, that would be ridiculous. I'm arguing you haven't proved a causal relationship.

More guns and access to them, equals more chance of gun violence.

Simple mathematics even you can understand Ender.

Do you want to outlaw things that are correlated to gun violence or do you want outlaw things that cause gun violence?

If we got rid of all guns, would not gun violence drop to zero?

Sounds like more than a correlation.

You can keep focusing on my statistical language error if you want Ender, my point is:  More guns and access to them equals more gun violence, but the correlation vs causation discussion is probably more interesting.

>>>>>Do you want to outlaw things that are correlated to gun violence or do you want outlaw things that cause gun violence?

Both please.

Wow, the NUMBER of guns is causal with homicide rate. And there's more than one study:

A more recent study from 2013, led by a Boston University School of Public Health researcher, reached similar conclusions: After controlling for multiple variables, the study found that a 1 percent increase in gun ownership correlated with a roughly 0.9 percent rise in the firearm homicide rate at the state level.

https://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2015/12/8/9870240/gun-ownership-...

I think there should be limits on the number of guns a person or household can have.  Also on manufactures for how many they can produce and sell.

Cigarette ownership doesn't directly cause health damage either.

I noticed that the americans suck ass in the biathlon.  Precision shooting under pressure is not our strong suit.

Here's the theme song for this thread:

Guns are not necessary. Hunter? Im sure they got a piggly wiggly or wynn dixie near your compound. Unless you enjoy spitting out shot.

Home protection?  if a robber wants, they will still kill you.  Fire off your AK in a fit of bravado and kill your own kid, your neighbor, your dog.

Such an obvious solution to an obvious problem. No more guns.

OP is right about a "well armed militia" not being able to do shit against the feds. I bet you gun owners have Red Dawn on DVD.

Decades ago someone I knew in Arkansas showed me a closet full of AK47's. He said they were easy to get. He would make them fully auto for anyone w/ the money.

Many years later I realized that he lived at the head of a road which led to a KKK compound.  Scary.

While at it, end gun shows. Take the power away from the mexican mafia by preventing thousands of weapons from going south.

Just a point of order on those statistics shown above, the chart on gun related deaths compares the US to a dozen or so countries in Western Europe plus Australia and New Zealand, which are some of the safest in the world.   If you look at the entire world, the US comes in 99th in murders per capita (out of 193 countries) - so just about right in the middle:

http://www.nationmaster.com/country-info/stats/Crime/Violent-crime/Murde...

And its also worth noting that many of the countries that have much higher murder rates also have much stricter gun laws and a generally less armed population than the US.

>>>>>>>>And its also worth noting that many of the countries that have much higher murder rates also have much stricter gun laws and a generally less armed population than the US.

Also worth noting that US policy is largely responsible for the situations in those countries.

guns and oxys flow like water in this country

Don't want an abortion? don't have one. hands off my body!

I'd bet good money the School Resouce Officer from Parkland ends up killing himself.

With a gun.

AR-15 owners =The small dick crowd, similar to little guys who drive huge 4x4 trucks.

Two points.  99th in murders is not the same as the firearm related death rate.  The firearm related death rate shows a much different picture:

http://www.nationmaster.com/country-info/stats/Crime/Murders-with-firear...

Secondly, the study clearly stated that it chose to compare countries with similar life expectancy, education, and income, which makes sense.

^ and that doesn't include accidental deaths or suicide by firearm which should be part of the discussion as well,

So Ken has three small penises?

I don't know if I should send him sympathies or high fives.  Sounds rough though.

The United States Of SUCK When It Comes To Guns and Bullets ! HORRIBLE !

what are these protection rifles we speak of?

They are not protection rifles. They are for blowing the bajeezus out of the grackle that wakes you up every morning outside your bedroom window.

Oh, the snot has caked against my pants
It has turned into crystal
There's a bluebird sitting on a branch
I guess I'll take my pistol
I've got it in my hand
Because he's on my land
