Episodes 3-4 was Sunday night. This thing is amazing. Brings back a lot of memories and proves what a bad motherfucker Michael Jordan is/was.
He's already ripped into Isiah Thomas. Really looking forward to the future episodes where they touch on the Dream Team so he can really tear Isiah apart. Always hated that bitch and Jordan LOATHES him. I never really minded Laimbeer, Mahorn and the rest of that motley crew though. They were a fun group to watch.
But this documentary really is bad ass.

Very good so far. Also a great reminder how great the NBA was at one time.
No mentioned of Phil Jackson's GD fandom. They touch on him being a hippie but leave it at that.
Couldn't agree more on Isiah Thomas. He may be the most unlikable Hall of Fame player of all time.

I remember people complaining about how soft today's game is but I don't recall it being as brutal as it actually was. Basically Hockey with no gear.
Yes the whole thing is well done. Amazing that they took this long to put it all together but it's really well crafted. They noted that Phil is on the outs but I don't really see any reason besides they just want a fresh start to a rebuild. It doesn't make much sense. Obviously there is bad blood between the team and upper management but why you would risk losing MJ is beyond me. A different time now where so many players have much more control about who coach is and more.

I was living in Evanston during the entire Bulls-Pistons wars. That team and its players were despised beyond what words can describe. Isaiah could not even get home for visits. His safety was in danger in Chicago. God only knows where Bill and his Lame Beer would have ended up if he showed his face on the West Side streets around the MADHOUSE on Madison. It was not the place to bring the wife and kids to.

^The weird thing is, Isiah's from Chicago. I think that's why his bitterness over Jordan and the Bulls got out of hand. Isiah won a national title at Indiana, was a stud in the NBA and was one of Chicago's favorite sons. Then MJ started winning titles, became the best player on earth, and started to achieve God-like status. Isiah was essentially forgotten about outside Detroit. Not that he wasn't a great player. Two-time champ, Hall of Famer and one of the best PGs ever. But nowhere near what Jordan became.

Was Dennis Rodman the only player to play a significant role in both the Pistons and the Bulls dynasty's? Between that and his diplomacy with North Korea, he's been more of a bridge-builder than anyone would ever have imagined.

I played craps at the same table as Rodman at one of the local casinos years ago. He was pretty wild throwing the dice off the ceiling and yelling for cocktails lol.

Couple interesting tidbits I
Couple interesting tidbits I either forgot or was too young to remember:
- Jordan was on a strict minutes restriction in 85 after breaking a bone in his foot and the front office told then-coach Stan Albeck he'd be fired on the spot if Jordan played 1 minute over his allotted time. They still won a pivotal game late in the year to make the playoffs and cost themselves a better draft position, to Jerry Krause's chagrin.
- Doug Collins was fired after taking the team to the Eastern Conference finals. Turned out to be a great move by Jerry Krause - who's clearly the villain in this documentary - since Phil Jackson and the triangle offense wasn't primarily focused on Jordan and allowed Pippen and others to thrive and to finally get past the Pistons and paved the way for what was to come.
- Carmen Electra is still hot as fuck. Can't blame Rodman for wanting to take a vacation and bang her the whole weekend.
The ESPN version is the one to watch. ESPN2 is edited. Jordan dropping f-bombs freely, ripping his old foes, toking on a cigar and sipping on $1,800 tequila. What a badass.

I was in Chicago to see the Dead at Soldier Field when the Bulls won their first threepeat in 1993. I was staying at my brother's apartment near Lincoln Park. He told me to head to some nearby intersection that had been the epicenter of the victory parties the previous two years. Mounted police were forcibly pushing people back from the intersection. It was nuts. People were speeding by, drinking openly, horns loudly honking, greedily yelling "We want four!" Little did they know that MJ had gambling issues, his father would get suspiciously murdered while catching z's in his car by the side of North Carolina interstate, and Jordan would soon take his first retirement.

Two more great episodes last
Two more great episodes last night. Jordan tore into Isiah again (literally said he hated him) and even poor Clyde Drexler. Said he was offended people compared him to him, so made it a point to scorch Clyde and the Blazers in the 1992 Finals.
Literally anything would've motivated that dude to rip your soul out. I suppose the next two episodes will focus on his dad's murder and his short-lived baseball career.

What's the motivation for Krause telling Jackson he's not coming back? Appreciate his transparency (no one else did), but did he just think it was time for a rebuild, or did Jackson piss him off. It just seems insane to fire someone who had won 5/6 of the last championships and had another on their way...especially with the loss of Jordan coupled with it. Why wasn't Krause fired for even mentioning such a thing?

He thought everyone but Jordan was on the downswing and it was time for a re-build. Phil Jackson wanted a big raise (as did Pippen) and Jordan said he wouldn't play if Jackson wasn't the coach.
Seems like Reinsdorf would've opened up the pocketbook and at least got everybody back on board for another couple years. Even if it meant shit-canning Krause. I don't know what kind of salary structure they were under. Jordan was making like $30 million per at the end of his run and Pippen was vastly underpaid. Maybe there just wasn't enough money to go around.
Krause catches a lot of grief but he deserves credit for building and sustaining that team. Firing Doug Collins after he took the team to the Eastern Conference finals took balls. And Jordan loved Collins. Phil Jackson as we know him might not've ever existed if it wasn't for Krause firing Collins.

Yeah seems more like an internal power struggle but to break up one of the greatest teams ever seems curious. The money angle makes sense, Pippen is owed his due and I'm sure Jackson wants his cut. There is just a better way of handling it....like negotiating and saying we couldn't come to terms.
The intro episode was interesting because they do talk about what a good person Krause is....and considering that evidently Jordan's company put this documentary together, they do show Jordan making petty snips at Kraus a lot. I can only imagine what's off-camera or not shown.
Jordan definitely holds a grudge... Horace Grant, Isaiah and Barkely.

Saw a clip of one of the upcoming episodes and Jordan made it clear Gary Payton couldn't stop him in the most funny, disrespectful way possible. Payton's always been complimentary of Jordan, but MJ doesn't think twice about cutting people down to size. Payton DID defend him pretty well though from what I recall.
I've gotten in a wormhole with Jordan trash talk stories online. Shew, that dude could treat his teammates like shit too. But he could, cause he's the fuckin GOAT. Some of the one-liners are hilarious.
