I was watching the UCLA-Oregon game last night and Bill was on a roll. Quoted Help on the Way, said he loves working "high altitude" and ripped into Joe Lunardi's brackets during an interview with the ESPN tourney guru.
I saw him duck into a Furthur show right as the house lights went down years ago in San Francisco. Anyone ever have the pleasure of toking with the big man?

Sat behind him a few times. We passed it forward, he toked. Too loud for much conversation.

Greek '89. He knew the people that were sitting next to me. We shared a joint and all talked for a while during set break. It's hard to imagine how tall tall really is until you stand next to someone pushing 7 feet.

Sat right behind him at the July 1, 2004 show by The Dead at the Idaho Center Amphitheater just outside Boise in Nampa. A very nice venue and probably my favorite show by this line-up. People were using lots of discretion, as there was a visible uniformed LEO prescence. Bill and his wife (?) didn't light up at their seats.

Sat right behind him<<<
I also sat a few rows behind him (just enough) at Paolo Soleri in 2007 for Ratdog (he was in a prime aisle seat above a stair alcove) and wasn't able to see if he toked or not; however, strangely enough, I wound up in that exact same seat he was in for the Phil show at the same venue a couple months later. Another strange thing, while investigating the dates for these shows I ran across this:

You know it's going to get stranger so ....

... now can't help but think of this scene when seeing someone "famous"

Sat in front of us at the Dear Jerry Berkeley shoe. Damn the dude is big. People were taking pics of him all night long and he just tolerated it. Takes a certain person to deal with that shit during the peak of some songs. Speaking of which.....
Best moment, my friend gets his buddy to take a picture of him and Bill - only to figure out later they were so trashed that they had the lens cap on. So they had to go back to Bill and yep - happened again. You can't go back to Bill a third time I said. Just leave the poor man alone.

I had floor seats center on the aisle back near the sound board for a show in Hartford in the 80's. That venue was known for their Nazi security and the aisles were always completely clear. At one point in the show we were all standing on our seats because for some reason that is what we did back then. So I'm 5'10" and standing on the chair and I look to my left and there is Walton standing next to me in the aisle and we were the same hight. Said hi and he slowly danced toward the front, and the security did not fuck with him.

>Anyone ever get high with Bill Walton?
My guess would be, probably.
Bill and I enjoyed a Kaiser show together, along with a few others, backstage. That's all I'm saying.

I've been waiting for someone to say something like this. I was thinking, lots of people have gotten high with Bill Walton.
Not the Zoner answer Philnweird was probably looking for, but it's true.

I went with my Little Brother
I went with my Little Brother Steven, Blaise & another guy to see Dylan @ the Bill Graham Auditorium some years ago. The place was packed & as the show had not yet begun the house lights were still on. We looked around the room for a spot to be & saw Mr. Walton standing at least a foot taller than anyone else. We decided to stand next to him because when the lights went out & we decided to go to the restroom or get a drink we could easily find our way back to our people.
Before the show started a young natty man wearing knee high basketball shorts was walking through the crown straight at us. In his hand was a burning huge cigar shaped joint which he was giving hits to those he passed. Our lineup was the guy we were with, Blaise, Steven & me with Mr. Walton next to us on our right. He gave the joint to a guy in front of our frontman who hit it. He gave to our frontman who also hit it. Then the guy in front of us collapsed on the floor & then our frontman collapsed. He offered it to Blaise, Steven, Mr. Walton & me & we all declined.
People revived the fellow in front of us. Security grabbed our frontman as we were trying to get him up & took him to an OD area where he spent the rest of the evening on a gurney in spite of the fact that he wanted to be with us. We collected him @ the end of the show.
I am thankful that Mr. Walton did not hit it because as big as he is if he had fallen he would have easily taken out 6 to 8 others in the crowd.
