Another Snow Dump on the Waaaay...

Forums:

NOAA says 3" -> 7" and Wunderground claims 8" -> 12" here in central Jerseyland.

Last night's supposed 1" -> 3" was just a dusting.  But this time it sounds seeerious.

I am going to move the pickup closer to the road, and tarp the cab & glass.  The outdoor set of Dog bowls will relocate indoors.

Thoughts and prayers.

Love and light.

Vibes for the cold.

No snow, but it is raining buckets.

Thanks, Slack. Your concern is comforting.

I bet Stu owns some galoshes.

West Chester PA area checking in, lots of heavy slush everywhere, clumps of snow cluster bombs falling from the trees, glacier like slush driveway flowing to the street.

And the best is yet to come!

Good to know, RnR.

My folks live right down the street from you on US 1...right next to Longwood Gardens (Kendal).

The rain has turned to large fluffy flakes,  but it's not cold enough to stick.

My galoshes are Fireman boots, similar to the photo.  Steel-toe,  insulated,  Vibram soles.  They are pretty comfortable and very water-resistant.

Actually mine are the 3009 model:  here we go,

Nice boots.

Serious boots Stu! Gotta keep the little piggies warm and dry or you are doomed!

So how are the Northeast Freaks doing? Stay safe out there, this ain't no joke.

Warm and peaceful vibes to all.

Some Pholks get all the cool boots.

Sounds like a heavy tree branch breaking snow. Hope not.

Snow's starting to stick now.  Hüsky thinks it's still raining and having a Nap.  He'll flip out when he sees the white stuff.  Boy hates the Rain,  but a nice blizzard is just Peachy.

I like those boots a lot.  They're designed for working in burning structures with tons of water on the floor,  so good traction & water-resistance.  They could use a coat of "Plasti-Dip" where the sole joins the boot.  Then they'd be like waders.

i got 4 last night and up to a foot right now. Im very near RnR but elevated (teehee) Snow bongs!

and good boots rule

77 and breezy here

Coming down at a legitimate 3 inches an hour here now.

Subaru w/ the Black Locust I cut up yesterday,  that's the "Short Stack"  under 20" lengths.

snow2_0.jpg

There's the "long stack"  which is 21" + in length.  That will be a bit over 1/2 cord when split.

Pike County PA and we have over 1' today on top of the 30" we got Friday/saturday - and its coming down about 2-3"/hour now - power restoration is now " significantly delayed " according to the power co twitter feed - my township was 99% off the grid as of Friday night

sorry for double post - didnt think post was going thru and apparently it was....

So the Locust stacks are part of what fell across the Woods road the other day. Here's a couple that fell a 1/2 mile out.

Another one:

From the sounds of it all,  I'll have more of that.  I'm hearing lots of limbs cracking all afternoon.  The rain into snow made for heavy, sticky  branch breakers.

What was pretty Kool was the Thunder earlier...  long, 30 second + rolling Thunder a couple times.

Electric service is still there, so far.

Right as I'm typing the above,  Big limb fell in the back yard right where Hüsky hangs out.  Good thing I brought H.I.M.  in earlier.

He thinks the Snow is just Awesome !! I had to lure the Animal in with Beef Jerky.

tree4.jpg

There's his Deer footy he found the other day.  Coyotes must've dragged the rest of the carcass away.  Boy he liked that thing !!

And,  there goes the electricity.

What a total pain in the butt. Over a foot here in NNJ. Power went out from downed trees around dinner time last night. Woke up with the power still out and the streets not yet plowed. Some plow action just before dark tonight. Power came on and soon after the front yard and shrubs of the next store neighbor burst into flames due to a downed wire. Fire was contained approx 1 hour later and as soon as the fire dept left, the power went out again. Went out to dinner, came home and 20 mins later power came back on. For how long is anyone's guess. At least the heats back on for now.

Snow depth varied greatly all over the region.  I only got 6" -> 7"  but my area got wet, heavy sticky stuff that did a lot of damage.  Power went out 5:30 PM Wed.  and came back last night a little after 10 PM.  Entire areas are still without AC not far from here.

BTW my area is between Trenton and Freehold where the map says 8.5"  but I don't think we had that sort of accumulation.

Power restored 8 PM last night - end of 8th day / the beginning of the 9th night - the hot shower after 8 days no running water was really swell

Nice to hear you got the Juice back on again,  MikePA.

Back during "Hurricane Sandy"  aftermath I was out of Juice for 10-12 days,  which was a Drag.

Currently I've still got electric water heater,  and the pump for the Well is electric,  like most.  I still had H20 pressure for the day + I was out,  but just ran a few gallons for the Hound.  Pressure tank might  have enough reserve for a quick shower ??

My role model was the suburban Home in a nearby municipality.  They never lost Hot pressurized water...  H20 tower for pressure,  natural gas water heater.  Stuff worked just fine smiley

Only had 4 days of no power after Hurricane Irma- so I know that 8 is just brutal, Mike. Congrats, 'er somethin'.

Oh- buckle up kids of the NE- be safe.

We ended up with 22 inches the other day....with a good amount of limbs down, along with one tree.

New storm prediction of 8 more, coming tonight into tomorrow.

I'm am officially ready for Spring.

As I was leaving the house, the news said MA and CT might get pounded again.  Good luck, freaks.
