She is an extremely talented Pianist / Keyboardist and does not fart around.

Kids,  if you practice really hard,  maybe some day you can tickle the Ivories that Well.

She is just Great.  Go see HB if you get the chance !!

OK,  before I get to the murky details of 'American Babies' setlist, I'll try and describe the venue.  Murky because I don't know all of AB's song names.

This 'Jams In The Sand' series is every Thursday until the end of August,  the Northeast corner of Convention Hall in Asbury Park.  Sunset Avenue.

Convention Hall, for those who have never been,  is a huge building adjacent to the Atlantic Ocean,  about the size of a German train station.  The Boardwalk runs through it and there are Bars & Shoppes in there,  besides Paramount Theatre and the larger venue.

The Bar / Restaurant on the Northeast side controls a huge amount of real estate within that humongous building and adjoining Beach Space.  On nice Sunny days, these free shows are right there on the beach just near the Ocean.

Great review. I'll check her out.

Anyway,  the Show was advertised as 6 PM -> 10 PM and I got there a bit early,  no Hüsky with me as the advertising said "No Dogs Allowed".  He certainly wou;ld have fit right in,  as he was just there a week or so ago for the Fireworks,  and strolled through Convention Hall, went for a Swim,  met Chicks.

Opening band  "EnJoy" was just getting tuned-up (Not on the Beach due to predicted inclement Weather)  but in that Bar's northern space indoors,  with large open windows.  I split to take a walk for snacks, aiming for a spot about 1/2 mile away with Good Food & Beer.

I did not make it very far  before the torrential Rainstorm rolled in,  almost to 'The Empress'  some blocks down the Boardwalk.  So I got really soaked and aborted the original Snack Plan.  So happy I did not bring Hüsky,  as he hates the Rain.  Deadly Snow-Storm;  he's happy as a Clam.  A bit of rain and  "Oh no,  I can't get my Fur all Wet !! "

Rain was coming down in Buckets and blowing sideways so as to be unpleasant,  and I got drenched.  Ducked in to 'Langosta Lounge'  and literally wrung out my T-shirt  in the entryway.  Nobody saw.

So I sat at the bar and got a Pint,  and ordered the 'Thai Lettuce Wraps'  for a snack.  Whatever you do, please never go in there and get those.  Just don't.

I've been to dozens of Thai & Vietnamese places that all do about the same Nice preparation with similar ingredients,  but Langosta Lounge makes a complete mockery of that Snack.  They give you a few leaves of Bibb lettuce,  a tiny bowl of chicken scraps and rice noodles and some sauce.

No rice-paper wrappers,  junque ingredients,  and even if you like the flavors it is a teeny-tiny portion for fifteen bucks.

Fucque that place.

DS ~ Because of your worldly nature, I'm surprised that you had any expectations of the food at Watermark. As made clear in the menu, food is an afterthought. That establishment is more of a let's prepare fancy cocktails, charge a lot of money for them and have a few pretty snacks to keep 'em drinking. IMO, never set your hope too high for food at a place that does not have an actual meal menu.

I will say from experience though, you found the top spot in Asbury Park for wringing out items of clothing. Soaked with rain, covered in wet snow, the entryway is a stellar location.

Thanks Skif --

The Langosta has nice Buddha statues in the Foyer to grin at the tourist wringing out the T-shirt.  And thanks for posting about  "Jams in the Sand"  or I never would have heard.

Anyway, here's an attempt at American Babies setlist.  I am completely unfamiliar with their song names, but  got a glimpse of their Sharpie-scribbled setlist paper after the set.  After EnJoy got rained out from the Northeast side of the building (torrential rain was washing through the large Seascape - view Windows)  the Crew set up PA inside the Convention Center.  At first they moved it to the Moose Lodge in Manasquan,  but changed their minds.  Hard-working Crew.

American Babies w/ Holly Bowling on Keyboards,  Asbury Park Convention Hall 7/13/2017 ::

What Does It Mean To Be
Boy
Shakedown Street -> Jam
Balls Eye
The Harder They Come  (Jimmy Cliff cover)
Winter War Games
Tangled Up In Blue -> Jam -> Tangled Up In Blue
???

Encore :

Allmanesque Reggae Jam ->
{{ Fever Dream }} ??

There were dozens of Fans viddying the show on their Fones, so I'm sure it's up on YouTube by now.  A very nice, small crowd of maybe 200 people tops. Drummer is the newest member as intro'd by lead Guitarist.  A petite young Lady on rhythm Guitar with excellent riffs,  playing a Hollow-Body electric w/ F-Holes. Bassist has a Music-Man Sting Ray 5-string.  Lead Guitar dude played what looked like a custom build Carvin - esque  6-string with a Jerrified pickup configuration:  Humbuckers at bridge and middle,  with a Single-coil at the neck spot.

Both Guitarists had Fender amps,  no idea of which era or type.

I  must say that Ms. Holly Bowling really added a lot to the overall performance and sonic landscape.  Perhaps the Genius musician of the Evening.

So I believe next Thursday features RAQ out of Burlington,  Vermont.  Hopefully the Weather will be less wet and/or I will remember to bring the Umbrella.

Never seen them before,  so it will be a nice surprise.

Thanks again to Mr. Skif for posting about the Jams In The Sand  free Music series here.

I hope to get to the RAQ show as well. Although their music isn't my favorite, they earned my vote of support after that night at the Liberate Music and Arts Festival way in the top of the NEK when I was surrounded by dancing, topless, body painted yoga women in the wee hours of the evening. While I don't expect the same in Asbury Park in the early evening, occasionally lightning does strike twice. :-)

Apparently,  there is a topless Yoga women movement astir in AP.  Read the article,  and bring your free range organic body paint.
