the ALCS has the 2 best teams in baseball... hoping for a competitive series... my gut feeling is that the Astros will prevail in 7, even though the Sawx had the best regular-season record
WS will be ho-hum and I predict the NL team will go down in 5 games
Price on the hill tonight. Perhaps the Fortnite master will toss a good game. At this point it would seem to tip in his favor just based on the law of averages. Or maybe not.
Weird game...3-2 going into the 9th, w 4 hits between both teams, and yet , it felt like the Sox were way behind. They just didnt seem to have that feeling (nor did the fans?) That they were gonna comeback and win, and only down one?
And , then in a second, its 7-2, so , maybe everyone had seen the future to begin with...hopefully tonite the Sox bats come alive, cause theyre gonna need em.
>> Price on the hill tonight. Perhaps the Fortnite master will toss a good game.
Won't happen. If I was Alex Cora I'd swap him out for ERod or else we'll surely be down 2-0 going to Houston. Furthermore, Price wouldn't start another game period. Would love to see them get rid of him but nobody would take that unless the Sox paid his contract. Seriously, the guy can't pitch in big games and he can't handle the pressure of the media or the fans in Boston. Fuck him...
^i love brandon phillips, but knew he wasnt gonna make team with Sox carrying three catchers....but, right now, id take his glove, (maybe a bat?), and experience over Swihart , only cause Swihart is basically useless except as a pinch hitter/runner off bench...Phillips could fill that role AND play second....
Huge win last night....7 rbi s now from a guy ive been supporting all year (in a texting war w one of my brothers who wanted jbj traded in April), last night was classic moment for Sox
Part of the fun of being a Red Sox (or baseball) fan is following the prospects from draft picks watch them rise through the minor leagues then eventually traded to help some playoff run.
^^^^The judge (no not that one) has issued his gag order on this until playoffs for Red Sox are ova
...and, not only his amazing arm, but, both Mookie (the gold glover) , and Benentendi rave about and credit JBJ with helping them w their defense, especially with their footwork and positioning etc....
Yep, that was a big time playoff game. It had everything - good pitching, clutch hitting, amazing defensive plays, and controversy.
That was a big-league ballgame.
And IMO it was interference. It's a shame because the guy probably wouldn't have caught it either way and it was real close, but the fans were reaching slightly over the wall and they hit his glove... interference.
But wasn't the fans fault, they didn't lean way over or anything like that, and if the ball was whistling at me I would have put my hands up too.
The mistake, which drives me crazy often, is how so many stadiums foolishly have stands right on top of the fence. It would be so easy to make a rule that EVERY stadium has at least one row of space between the wall and the first seated row.
Major bummer on that one for the Astros, but that's what they get for having fans right on top of their wall.
At least they got rid of the hideous hill in deep center field.
Totally agree, lance...the rule states clearly that if the ball goes over the fence INTO the stands, it cannot be fan interferance. There was no clear replay that could establish if Mookies glove did indeed "break the plane" of the wall (to use a football term), therefore, by bumping Mookies glove, the fan interfered. Easy call, i thought. But, man, did the announcers make it much more confusing than it needed to be. Ron Darling never really explained the rule properly, and its a cut and dry rule...there should be no grey area leaving people in doubt, and there def was some left hanging last night. I blame that on tv , not on the officials.
And , its too funny, as i read your post, the part about having fans so close, its being discussed on The Dan Lebetard Show at this moment., and right away i, too, thought of that hill they had in center, but , nobody on the show mentioned it....;)
Im still just enjoying every minute of this series. These are two powerhouse teams, its like watching an old heavyweight 15 round fight. There is a reason the Sox won 108 games, and i think alot of ppl forgot about that after seeing some weakness in their bullpen during Yankee series. All i know is Cora is doing a phenomenol job managing his team, and his staff etc...there isnt a snow balls chance in hell that a John Farrell led Sox team would be up 3-1 right now....as a matter of fact, they prob woulda already have been eliminated. Thats how important Cora has been to this team.
Verlander vs Price tonite...dont be shocked if Sox wrap it up, but i still think its going 7 games (as it should). Eovaldi vs Kuechal on Sunday pm maybe...
Neither did I...Astro are one of the, if not THE, most balanced team in baseball. They just dont have alot weaknesses, if any. Alot of TBS staff talking about the "injured" Astros, and never once mentioned a few huge injuries for Sox. What would this lineup look like if Pedroia was hitting where Kinsler/Holt was? Moreland was banged up, Sox lose a gold glover at first for 4 games. And just a huge loss to bullpen when Steven Wright had to come off roster during Yankee series. His knuckleball is a great change of pace to bring in, and he s also capable of eating innings etc.
Im rootin for Milwaukee, but, i wouldnt mind seeing The Dodgers.
Fun fact du jour....only 3 times since 2001, has Boston been deprived of a major franchise (celtics, bruins, patriots, sox.....revalution???) Going to the finals....thats just crazy!!!!!
First the naysayers said, "The Yankees are the best Wild Card team EVER with 100 wins and are all back and healthy. The Red Sox better watch out and may struggle."
Then the naysayers said, "Okay, they beat the Yankees, but...the Yankees are not the team Houston is. The Red Sox will have a very tough time with such a cohesive team with that pitching staff."
It's good to know that the naysayers get it wrong every once and a while.
